Exam format

The CAT (Common Admission Test) is a global exam conducted all over India. This exam is conducted online. Common Admission Test is conducted virtually over the computer. It a form filling type process where the candidates will have to mark the answers for the questions.

There are many versions of tests also. Like large-scale exams utilize multiple forms, etc. Hence, there are two types of scores involved. 1) A raw score 2) a scaled score.

The Scores

The raw scores and the scaled are the 2 processes of allotting marks to the students. The raw scale is calculated for each of the sections. This section is depended on the number of questions the candidates attend as well as the no of questions they don’t attend and the questions that they answered wrong.

Candidates are given 3 marks for every correct answer that they give and there will deduction in 1 mark if the candidate has answered the question wrong. But however, there is no negative marking if the field has left blank.

These raw scores are then adjusted through a process called equating. The equated scores are then placed on a common scale or a metric to ensure an appropriate interpretation of the scores. This process is then called scaling. These are the two process that takes place simultaneously.
