Chhattisgarh Public  services Commission (CGPSC)

Chattisgarh Public Service Commission is also called as CGPSC. CGPSC is one of the competitive exam carried out to fulfill the recruitment in the government sector. Various posts under CGPSC are as follows

Eligibility Criteria for GCPSC


  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit for GCPSC

  • A candidate must have attained a minimum age of 21 years and must not have reached the maximum age of 30 years as on1st January of the year of issuance of the advertisement.
  • Provided that for candidates domicile/permanent residents of State of Chhattisgarh, the maximum age shall be extended to 35 years.
  • Provided that the State Government may vary the lower and upper age limits for any of the services included in these Rules looking to the exigencies of the services.
Age Relaxable
  • up to a maximum of five years: if a candidate domiciled in Chhattisgarh belongs to a caste or tribe notified a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe or OBC by the Government of Chhattisgarh.

up to a maximum of 3 years: If a candidate is a bonafide repatriate of Indian origin from:-

  • Burma, who migrated to India on or after 1st June 1963
  • Srilanka, who migrated to India after 1st November 1964
  • if the Candidate is a bonafide displaced person from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and had migrated to India during the period between 1st January 1964 and 25th March 1971.
  • up to a maximum of 8 years: (If the candidate repatriate or displaced person mentioned in (ii) supra belongs to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe or OBC as notified by Government of Chhattisgarh and domiciled in Chhattisgarh.
  • Up to a maximum of 5 years: if the candidate is a widow on her first appointment.
  • Up to a maximum of 2 years: if the candidate holds a Green Card in his/ her name under the Family Welfare Programme.
  • Up to a maximum of 5 years: if the candidate is a forward partner of a prize winning couple under Intercaste Marriage Scheme sponsored by the Tribal, Harijan and Backward Class Welfare Department as per GAD Memo No. C-1085-3-1, dated 3-9-1985;
  • Up to a maximum of 5 years: if the candidate is sports person honored with the Shaheed Rajeev Pandey Award or Gundadhur Samman or Maharaja Pravin Chandra Bhanjdev Samman or Rashtriya Yuva awarded as per GAD Memo No- F19-2/2005/1-3 Raipur dated 01-12-2006.
  • Up to a maximum of 3 years: in the case of Defence Services personnel, disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof.
  • Up to a maximum of 8 years “ if the candidate filing under a category.
  • Supra belongs to the scheduled caste or the scheduled tribe or OBC.
Education Qualification
  • A candidate must hold a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act. 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the commission’s examination but have not been informed of the results as also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination.
  • Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognized by the State Government as equivalent to a professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the examination.

How to Prepare for CGPSC

Self-assessment is an important preparation. Plan your studies at least two months before exam. Questions can be asked from every nook and corner of the subject and therefore it is not all advisable to omit any chapter or area. Practice as many mock tests as possible in close to examination environment as possible. During preparation avoid an oily food just and avoid anxiety before the exam.

  • Ideally follow THE HINDU newspaper, but local newspapers are also good to keep yourself updated with current affairs. Also follow YOJNA like magazines for government policies.
  • Make yourself comfortable with Chhattisgarhi language and culture because of its principal part of the syllabus.
  • Get your mobile and record your notes in your voice to listen whenever you are free.
  • Practice different types of questions in each sitting.
  • Make different notes for topics which you feel, are difficult.
  • Discuss with your friends/brothers/ sisters about you learn and try to explain them the whole chapter to went through.
  • Concentrate on news/events related to Bihar and see how the news is important to the state. This will help you differentiate between important and unimportant topics for the exam.
