Do you really need Coaching to Crack IAS Exam?

Do I really need coaching classes to Crack IAS exam?? Can I crack IAS exams by self-learning?? If I won’t be able to Pass IAS exam by self-study then?? And many questions gets stuck in the mind of IAS candidate preparing for an exam. Some find a solution to their questions, but some questions remain unsolved.

One question that every IAS preparing student has been “Can I Crack IAS without coaching classes??”

And the answer is “YES” or it may be “NO” it all depends on the person.

If you are unfamiliar with a syllabus, basics, pattern or need a guidance for preparation If you have only very little knowledge about the optional subject you plan to take the main exam and feel it’s a risky strategy to take it on your own for preparation then you should join coaching classes.

There are two things you need to Pass UPSC exam if you join coaching classes:

  • Guidance
  • Knowledge

A good coach or a good coaching institute should be able to provide these two. It is a necessary factor to be provided by classes’.If you are not getting relevant and latest. Strategies and guidance from a coaching institute, even after spending thousands and lakhs of rupees there, then there is no meaning of attending coaching classes.

IAS can also be cleared without joining coaching classes. To get started with IAS preparation, you should first have some idea about the service itself. If you are good at self-study, you can clear UPSC without any coaching. Whether classroom or outside classroom, good guidance and study materials can supplement candidates’ preparation for UPSC exam.

There are many online websites that will help you. IAS Paper website “www.IASpaper.net” and IAS Paper mobile app “IAS Paper” are just to help the bright minds in India do self-study and crack this exam.

Some following important tips that might help you for your self-study:

  • Familiarity with syllabus you must know your syllabus very well and should properly cover all the important topics.
  • Preparation from past question papers this will help you to know about the prepared pattern. Preparing from past 10 years will surely help you and will boost your confidence level.
  • Selection of books it is most important part in your preparation. The right selection of books plays an important role (of course it’s a beginning so its imp to choose correct books).start learning by subject or topic this will help you to save time.
  • Read newspapers daily, concentrate on current affairs as this is a part of your exam
  • Manage your timetable according to study preparation-strictly follow the timetable this will help you most
  • Make your notes, prefer your own notes- try to prepare notes by your own. Try to remember main points. Highlighting main points is a way that will help you to do a selective study in the end or during revision.
  • Keep revising-revise everything whatever you study, whenever you get time.
  • Exclusive skills for presenting answers
  • Never give up.

So by this we come to the conclusion that not everyone needs coaching classes. But so of you may need .it just depend on efficiency, hard work.

A good coaching institute can play 50% part, but unless the candidate put the next 50% effort he cannot become an IAS officer.so work hard, have patience and study well.

All the best for all future IAS officers!
