Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj Visits China
Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping met India’s External Affairs Minister Ms, Sushma Swaraj in Beijing on February 2, 2015 during her visit to China for the 13th Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Russia-India-China trilateral from February 1 to 3, 2015. Mr. Xi said that China and India had taken “solid steps” to step up cooperation and implement the agreements reached between him and Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. Mr. Xi said that since his visit to India in September last year, relations between the two countries had entered into a new stage. Among one of the solid steps taken by the two sides, they exchanged notes on modalities for opening the second route for the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra in Tibet via Sikkim by June 2015, that will allow more Indians to undertake the pilgrimage. Mr. Xi had promised opening the new route to Mr. Modi during the former’s maiden visit to New Delhi last year Mr. Xi recalled his fond memories of India visit, especially his trip to Prime Minister Mr. Modis hometown in Gujarat State.
