HPPSC 2020: Syllabus, Eligibility Criteria & Exam Pattern

State Government of Himachal Pradesh conducts HPPSC Examination. HPPSC is one of the competitive exams. Any Aspirant wishes to work in the Government sector of Himachal Pradesh must apply for the HPPSC examination.

Himachal Pradesh public service commission (HPPSC) conducts written exams for the recruitment of various posts every year.

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission annually performs the state civil services examination to select the capable and eligible applicants through the three-stage exam which includes – Screening Test, Main Exam, and Interview respectively. Different posts under HPPSC are

  1. Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services
  2. Himachal Pradesh Police Services
  3. Tehsildar
  4. Excise & Taxation Officer
  5. Block Development Officer
  6. District Panchayat Officer
  7. Manager, District Industries Centre
  8. District Welfare-cum-Probation Officers
  9. Assistant, Registrar Co-operative Societies
  10. District Employment Officer
  11. District Treasury Officer
  12. District Food and Civil Supplies Controller and
  13. Assistant Controller, Weights, and Measures respectively

Eligibility For The Hppsc Examination

Nationality: A candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit: A candidate must have attained the age of 22 years but must not be more than 30 Years of age as on the last date prescribed for receipt of applications in the Commission’s Office i.e. 5th January 2017.

Relaxation In Upper Age Limit:

  • The upper age limit is relaxed able by 03 years for S.C. / S.T. and other prescribed reserved categories (OPRC) candidates of Himachal Pradesh.

Essential Qualifications 

As on the fifth of January, 2016, a candidate must be a holder of a degree in Law as recognized by the Bar Council of India. Recognized Medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or Part-II of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.

The Holders of educational qualification included in Part-II of the third schedule should fulfill the conditions stipulated in subsection (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Completion of compulsory rotating internship.

Desirable Qualification

The Knowledge of customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the State of Himachal Pradesh.

Post Graduate Degree or Diploma included in the first or second Schedule or Part-II of the third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.

The Holders of educational qualification included in Part-II of the third schedule should fulfill the conditions stipulated in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. A postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution as mentioned in Appendix-A.

Exam Pattern:

There will be three stages in the HPPSC Exam:

  • Preliminary Exam
  • Main Exam and
  • Viva-Voce respectively

Preliminary Examination:

There will be two papers of objective type in the Preliminary Examination. The questions will be based on Multiple Choice Answers on the following topics:

Paper I: General Studies (200 Marks) – 100 Questions

Paper-II: Aptitude Test (200 Marks) – 100 Questions

There will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the objective type question papers. The candidates who are qualified in the Preliminary Examination will be eligible to write the Main written examination & after that Viva-voce will be conducted.

Main Examination:

The candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Exam can appear in the Main Exam which will be about 20 times the total number of vacancies. The candidates will not be issued separate call letters for the Main Exam.

Viva Voce (Interview)

The candidates called for the Viva Voce test after the Main Exam will be done three times the total number of vacancies.

  • The Exam will be for Maximum 100 Marks.
  • Qualifying Marks for General Category Candidates 45 Marks.

How to Prepare for HPPSC?

  • Make your schedule of study give appropriate time to each and every topic.
  • Read newspapers, magazines, etc. To increase your awareness of current affairs just keep an eye on reading the various newspaper, watch television for breaking the news.
  • Keep yourself up to date. Just go solving on previous papers, make a habit of marking the key point.
  • Make your notes so that it will be easy while revising at the last moments.
  • Take the help of online assessment it will be better to boost your confidence level.
  • Self-assessment is an important preparation. Plan your studies at least two months before the exam.
  • Questions can be asked from every nook and corner of the subject and therefore it is not all advisable to omit any chapter or area.
  • Practice as many mock tests as possible close to the examination environment as possible. During preparation avoid fatty food just and avoid anxiety before the exam.

If you are starting to prepare now first focus on those topics in which you are good, brush your concepts and other topics. Study for at least 6 hrs. A day. Make your schedule and give appropriate time for each and every topic. Let say 2 hrs. For general studies as it carries about 150 marks if you can answer then you will get more than 120 marks. 2hrs for solving questions on the topics which you are good at. 1 hr. for brushing up concepts on other subjects.

Tips?

  • Get your mobile and record your notes in your voice to listen whenever you are free.
  • Practice different types of questions in each sitting.
  • Make different notes for topics that you feel, are difficult.
  • Discuss with your friends/brothers/ sisters about you learn and try to explain to them the whole chapter too went through.
