IISER 2018 SCB Second Round Allotment has been Released on 13th July.  One of the most renowned Institute of India in the field of Science and Research is Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER). There are seven institutes of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER). Bhopal, Mohali, Kolkata, Pune, Berhampur, Tirupati and Thiruvananthapuram, institutes are situated here. All IISERs provides with dual degree courses. This dual degree course is known as the BS-MS  program. IISER 2018 Seat Allotment Result for JEE Advanced channel is releasing on 28th June 2018.

Applicants have three way to take admission in IISER. They are: Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) exam

  • Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) exam.
  • JEE Advanced exam.
  • IISER Aptitude Test.

IISER Result is announced in the first week of July. IISER First Round Allotment for KVPY channel is released in Mid-June. JEE mains result is also declared in Mid-June. Final Merit List will be provided after the release of First Round results.

IISER Result

IISER 2018 Result will be declared through online mode. Candidates can check their results on 3rd July 2018 for SCB channel. Candidates can view their results by entering their roll no. & registration id. After the result declaration, candidates can register for allotment of seats. The seat will be allotted on the basis of merit secured in the exam.

IISER Application Form 2018

Appliaction can be filled online by the candidates. The payment of application form can also be made online. Even if candidates are applying through KVPY, JEE and (state Board Toppers) SCB then also candidates need to fill the application form.

Following are the steps to fill the application form for all the candidates:

  •  24th May 2018 (SCB), 21st May 2018 (KVPY) & 11th June 2018 (JEE Advanced) Streams.
  • Candidates can fill the IISER 2018 Application Form till the 12th of June 2018 (SCB), 8th June 2018 (KVPY) & 21st June 2018 (JEE Advanced) Streams.
  • The application fee is Rs.2000/- for General and OBC category and Rs. 1000/- for other categories.
  • The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Before filling the application form, candidates have to be ready with the scanned photograph in JPG/PNG/BMP format.
  • The size of the file should not exceed 2MB.
  • At the time of form filling, the candidate can fill their Institution choice out of all seven IISER for admission to select all the seven IISERs in order of preferences.
  • Take the printout of the filled application form.
  • Candidates have to bring the print out of filled application form at the time of admission.

Admit Card for IISER entrance examination 

Applicants who are applying through KVPY or JEE do not require any admit card. The applicants applying through SCB channel will get the admit card, once they are done filling the application form completely. The applicants should fill the form Online on the official website.

Admit card is released in the mid of June. Applicants can take the print out of the admit card. It is necessary for the applicant to bring the filled application form and admit card at the time of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research.

Eligibility Criteria for IISER exam

Different examination through which one can take admission in IISER have different eligibility criteria some of which are mentioned below:

The eligibility criteria are given below:


  • Indian National, PIO & OCI candidates are eligible to apply.

SCB Streams:

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates must pass 10+2 examination with science stream in 2017 or 2018.
  • Minimum Marks: Candidates have to secure marks equal or above the cut-off percentage in their respective boards.
  • Relaxation: There is 5% relaxation in qualifying marks for the OBC-NC & PwD category.
  • Cut-Off Percentage: For SC/ST/KM category candidates, the cut-off percentage marks is 55% in 10+2 level for all boards.
  • Candidates applying through SCB channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test.

KVPY Stream:

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates have a valid KVPY scholarship commencing from the 2018-2019 session.
  • Additional cut-off criteria may be applicable.

JEE Advanced Stream:

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates must qualify the JEE Advanced exam & secure a rank within 10000 in CRL (Common Rank List).
  • Relaxation: For OBC-NC/SC/ST/PWD category, their category rank should be within 10000.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)

Candidates have to qualify in SA (2015)/ SX (2016)/ SB (2016) from basic science stream, they can apply.

  • Stream SA: Candidates who enrolled in the XI Standard and having secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination.
  • Stream SX: Those candidates enrolled in XII Standard / (+2) and secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (PCB) in the class 10th. They must be obtained 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in Class 12th before taking up the fellowship if awarded.
  • Stream SB: Candidates enrolled in the 1st Year of a UG course in sciences and secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Science subjects (PCB) in the XII/(+2) Standard Board Examination.  They must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in the 1st year final examination of B.Sc. /B.S. /B.Math. /B.Stat. /Int. M.Sc. /M.S.

State and Central Boards

Candidates who qualified their Class 12th in 2017 or appearing in 2018 in science stream with either

  • Marks above or equal to the cut-off percentage that will be announced by DST as eligibility for INSPIRE Fellowship. There are 5% relaxation for PD/ OBC (Non-creamy layer) category candidates in the DST cut-off. For SC/ST and Kashmiri Migrants (KM) candidates, the cut-off is 55% in class 12th for all boards.
  • The eligibility for Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) under INSPIRE scheme is based only on the performance in class XII board examination.

Exam Pattern for IISER exam 2018

Exam Paper of IISER has a certain type of pattern which includes subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. There are Multiple Choice Questions in the question paper. From each section 15 questions are asked. Total marks the question paper carry is 180 marks. The time duration of paper is three hours. Three marks are awarded for each correct question marked by the candidates. There is negative marking, that is one mark is deducted for each incorrect item.

The exam pattern details are mentioned below:

  • Mode of Exam: KVPY Aptitude Test will be conducted in offline mode (pen-paper based).
  • Type of Questions: The questions will be multiple choice types.
  • Exam Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours (10:00 AM to 1:00 PM).
  • No. of Questions: 15 questions will be asked from each subject.
  • Total Marks: The question paper will be of 180 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: 3 marks will be given to the candidates for each correct response.
  • Negative Marking: For the incorrect answer, one mark will be deducted.
  • Subjects: The question paper will be comprised of PCMB subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology).

Counseling for IISER

50% of the seats is filled through KVPY and JEE which includes General, SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy). Other 50% is filled by State and Central Boards that is based on IISER Aptitude test. IISER procedure will begin after the announcement of the result. IISER does not have any cut-off. The seat will be allotted by the availability of seats and rank in the merit list. This also includes preferences of the applicants.
