IPS Ahmed Javed - Mumbai police commissioner Takes ₹1 SalaryIPS Ahmed Javed is an officer from the 1980 batch, who was appointed as the 39th commissioner of Mumbai police on 8th September 2015, by the Maharashtra government, and replacing Rakesh Maria who was the previous commissioner. Before being posted as the Deputy Commissioner of Police’s Intelligence department of Mumbai, he worked as superintendent of police in Buldhana and Nanded.

He has also served for brief periods in various places, like in Delhi, from 1983 to 1985 and returned to Mumbai in early 2000s to serve as Additional Commissioner of Police of central region followed by the southern region, after which he was promoted to work as Joint Commissioner of Police in law and order department, serving in this post from 2002 to 2005.

Before taking over as Commissioner of Police of Navi Mumbai in 2010, Javed served as Additional Director General of Police, during which he was posted with the state reserve police force and also with the Maharashtra Police Headquarters as ADG Establishment. He has also served as Director-General of Police in the Home Guards department. Hailing from a small town named Tanda, he completed his Graduation (Bachelors) in Arts from Delhi’s St. Stephen’s College. His father, Mr. Qazi Mukhtar is a retired senior IAS officer. Javed is currently married to a woman named Shabnam and has 2 children named Amer and Zara.

Although with Javed being a worthy Contender for the Commissioner of Police, Maria was chosen for the post, which raised a controversy. However, Rakesh Maria was transferred shortly after, due to a sudden change in events, and Javed got appointed as current Commissioner of Police. Javed also has previously good experience with serving in Mumbai, due to previously serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police’s Intelligence, Additional Commissioner of Police for Central and Southern regions and Joint Commissioner of Police in law and order department (between 2002 to 2005). His reputation as commissioner has been spotless. Although due to retire in 2016, he has chances to get an extension of his service. He has also served as the Solapur Police Commissioner from 1997, for over 3 years. Javed also is an Avid Billiards player, some which describe as the reason for him being so good in putting criminals to their holes. He donates all of his earnings to the Police fund and takes only a salary of Re. 1

    I am Afrin Shaikh from Mumbai Malwani
    My family are in a big trouble some reputed people of mahila mandal have political support have cheated me on the name of mahada plots allotment from 4 yrs i have not got any justice only disappointment from your department . I have visited to all seniors authorities protacall wise ACP/DCP/Zonal head Rajesh Pradhan but no resolution till date last option i have is to commit suicide with my family and police deptmnt will be responsible for all mishappening to my family
    Hope so atleast you will understand my concern and cooperate with me for justice as you are my last hope for justice
