JEST 2020 Shortlist has been released for Interview. JEST is recognized as a National Eligibility Test (NET) by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB). Applicants who want to take admission into Ph. D. and Integrated Ph.D. Program form different participating institutions to apply for the JEST examination. Several premier research institutes conduct JEST. This is a National Level exam which is also considered as National Eligibility Test (NET) and is held every year.

JEST 2020 Exam Date has been Announced now. The Exam will be held on 16th February 2020.  Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is organized to offer admissions into Ph.D. & Integrated Ph.D. course in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science/ Neuron Science/ Computational Biology fields.

The JEST Examination is held for two subjects only the first is physics and the second is a theoretical computer science/Neuroscience/Computational Biology.

JEST 2020 Exam Admit Card 

JEST 2020 Admit Card has been released on 16th January 2020. JEST 2020 Admit Card will be released on 16th January 2020 through online mode. The examination center & other details will be mentioned on the admit card. Candidates have to log-in by entering username and password to download the admit card.

  • Candidates need to download the JEST 2020 Admit Card from the website only.
  • Candidates are required to bring the admit card along with one identity proof to the examination center.

JEST 2020 Exam Application Form 

  • The Applicants have been Available through the online JEST 2020 Application Form.
  • Candidates will be able to fill the Application Form until the 21st of December 2019.
  • Applicants must have a valid email id to register themselves online.
  • JEST 2020 Application Form has been released on 11th November 2019.
  • While filling the Application Form applicants also has to upload the scanned photograph and signature in jpg format.
  • To complete the application process, the applicant also has to pay the application fee and then submit the form as per directed on the website.
  • Once the Application Form is submitted applicants will receive the intimation on the registered email id.

JEST 2021

JEST (Joint Entrance Screening Test) 2021 is conducted by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) to offer admission to the candidates in Ph.D. or Integrated Ph.D. programs in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science or Neuroscience or Computational Biology. In the various participating institutes, the admission will offer to the candidates. From the 3rd week of December, the JEST 2021 Application Form will be started until the 3rd week of December 2020.

JEST 2020 Exam Eligibility Criteria

Below are the JEST 2020 Eligibility Criteria for a few courses –

Ph.D. Programme Physics M.Sc. in Physics is the prescribed qualification to apply for this course. However, some institutions also accept B.E. / B.Tech. / M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. In disciplines of Applied Physics and Mathematics.
Ph.D. in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. In Computer Science and related disciplines and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science.
Ph.D. in Neuroscience at NBRC M.Sc. (Physics/Mathematics), B.E/ B.Tech/ M.C.An in Computer Science
Ph.D. in Computational Biology at IMSc M.Sc./ M.E./M.Tech./MCA  in any engineering or science discipline, with good mathematical skills and a strong interest in biological problems.
Integrated M.Sc./ M.Tech – Ph.D. Programme (Physics) B. Sc. (Physics / Mathematics).
At NISER, B.Sc. (Physics) Or B.E. /B. Tech in Engineering Physics, with a minimum of first-class marks, will be the minimum qualification.
For admission to IIA, the qualification required is B.Sc. (Physics/Mathematics)/B.E./B.Tech. In Electrical/Instrumentation/Engineering Physics/Electronics and Communications/ Computer, Science and Engineering/Optics and Photonics will be considered.
B.Sc. (Physics) will be considered at IISER-Pune, ICTS-TIFR, NCRA-TIFR, and TIFR-TCIS.
Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc B.Sc. /B.E. /B.Tech. /M.C.A. in Computer Science or related disciplines.

JEST 2020 Exam Pattern

JEST 2020 Exam will be held on 16th February 2020. Below is the information about the paper pattern for the JEST Examination 2020:

  • Information about the Courses: JEST is an entrance exam for the applicants who want to go for the courses such as Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D. program in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science.
  •  Exam Mode: This will be an offline exam, and the questions paper will be in the form of the OMR sheet.
  •  Number of Questions: The question paper of Physics will be divided into two parts with 25 questions each and seven questions related to Theoretical Computer Science
  •  Type of Questions: The question paper of Theoretical Computer Science has questions of both types – some requiring short answers and some detailed involving problem-solving. The physics question paper will be based on objective type questions.
  •  Exam Duration: Applicants will get 3 hours to complete the entire paper.
  •  Marking Scheme: The Part-A of Physics question paper will contain questions of 3 marks each while Part-B will contain items of 1 mark.

JEST 2020 Exam Preparation Tips

Before starting preparation, you should analyze the syllabus prescribed for the examination.

  • Prepare a good time-table as per your daily schedule and include all the topics of the syllabus in your preparations.
  • Refer the best preparation books and other study materials available in the market or on the internet.
  • Practice from previous year question papers and sample papers to know more about the exam pattern
  • Mark all the important topics of the syllabus and prepare short notes and revise them at the end of preparations.

JEST 2020 Exam Answer Key

The JEST 2020 Answer key has been published through the online mode. It will be published in February 2020. The authority will also provide the opportunity to present objections regarding the response key until the 1st week of March 2020. The final response key will be published with the Result.

JEST 2020 Answer Key has been got released on 19th February 2020. The Answer key will be made available through online mode. Candidates will be able to check their answers & will get an assumption of their score in the exam. The Answer key will contain all correct answers to questions asked in the examination.

JEST 2020 Exam Result

JEST 2020 Result has been declared on the website after the examination is over. The Result of JEST 2020 has been declared by the Science & Engineering Research Board. Candidates will be able to check their Results online. To check the Result, candidates have to enter their username and password. It has been released on 11th March 2020.

  • The result has been declared on 11th March 2020.
  • The scorecard will be released only after the Result is declared and the scorecard will be valid just for one year.

JEST 2020 Exam Cut Off

JEST 2020 Cut Off will be available online after the announcement of Result. The cut-off marks will be prescribed based on no. of students appearing in the exam, the difficulty level of exam, seat availability, previous year cut-off trends, etc.

Looking back at the previous cut off trends, the JEST 2020 cut off marks are expected between 20 to 25 marks. Candidates have to score the cut off marks to be eligible for the counseling process.

After the declaration of the Result, the candidates must contact the respective participating institution in which they wish to be admitted. There is no centralized Admission Process carried out by the review authority. Applicants can mark the particular institution with the original document for verification, and the JEST 2020 scorecard.No centralized admission process will be conducted for admission in the institutes.
