JIPMER Introduction


JIPMER is the abbreviation for Jawaharlal Institute Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, this is an Institute that offers courses in the field of medical education in India. The JIPMER MBBS entrance exam is organised for the admission into MBBS course. There are 200 seats for the candidates giving JIPMER. There are two well-known cities that provide the course of JIPMER, these cities are Puducherry and Karaikal.

JIPMER Admit Card


The admit card for JIPMER is provided online to the candidates appearing for the JIPMER MBBS. The admit card is accessed by the candidates on the JIPMER portal. The admit card for MBBS or Medicine courses was issued via online mode from the third week of May 2018 until the first week of June 2018.  The candidates are advised to take print out of the admit card and take this admit card with themselves on the exam centre.

The candidates can download the admit card from the official website of the JIPMER. The admit card will not be sent via post to any of the appearing candidates. The admit card of JIPMER MBBS will contain following details like candidates name, date of birth, photo, signature, exam centre and roll number. The candidates are advised to take print out of the admit card and take this admit card with themselves on the exam centre.

None of the candidates are allowed to enter the examination hall without admit card. Also, all the candidates are informed to take their original as well as the photocopy of their ID proof along with admit card.

JIPMER Application forms


JIMPER application form is available in online mode. The University appoints authorities to conduct the centralised online counselling for the academic session of JIPMER 2018-19. The counselling by JIPMER is conducted for its MBBS courses. All the applicants are required to fill the form in order to appear for JIPMER MBBS or Medicine courses.

The admission form or application form for JIMPER MBBS is available from the last week of March 2018 until the first week of May 2018. The application fees can be paid by the candidate via online mode. Here are few points about JIPMER application form:

  • Candidates who want to apply for JIPMER 2017 exam are required to apply only through the online process.
  • The JIPMER 2017 Application Form was available from 27th March to 3rd May 2017.
  • Candidates can fill and submit the application form through the official site of JIPMER.
  • After submitting the application form, no changes will be entertained.
  • The fee payment was made only through debit/ credit card or net banking.

JIPMER Application fees


Once the candidate is done with filling the form online the next step is to pay the application fees of Rs. 1200/-. The fees Rs. 1200/- is for the general category which also includes OBC/P-UR/P-OBC category and for reserved categories such as SC/ST/P-Sc the application fees is Rs. 1000/-.

The candidates applying from NRI or OCI quota should pay the fees of Rs. 2500/-. Also, the OPH and P-OPH candidates don’t have to pay any application fees. The payment mode is only online and Online payment can be done through Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card.

JIPMER Eligibility Criteria


There is certain rules or conditions set by the official authority of the JIPMER MBBS authorities which an applicant needs to satisfy to appear for the JIPMER. The applicants can look for all the eligibility criteria one needs to satisfy and should contain all the documents proving that applicants satisfying those criteria.

Here are some of the criteria which an applicant should satisfy:

  • Candidates must be an Indian National.
  • OCI and NRI candidates are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission i.e. must be born on or before 1st January 2001. There is not any relaxation in age limit for reserved categories.
  • Students must have passed/appearing 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology subjects.
  • The candidate should have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and should have scored minimum 50% marks in PCB (for general) and 40% marks (for SC/ST /OBC/ OPH (reserved).
  • General OPH candidates have to secure minimum 45% marks in the above-mentioned subjects.

ReservationThe candidates are also provided with the reservation. The reservation is provided to the candidate those who fall in the category and may have the concession. For the details, the candidate can also check the official website of JIPMER.

The reservation for the candidates who are from different categories has different rules set by JIPMER. The rules and regulations are defined by the JIMPER. All the candidates must strictly follow the rules defined by the JIPMER for MBBS.

NOTE: The candidate should note that the in-case of any discrepancy the candidate’s admission will be cancelled and the seat will not be given to the candidate instead will be allotted to any other candidate.

JIPMER Result


JIPMER Result 2018 for MBBS programs.  The result will be announced online on the official portal of JIPMER. The result is declared in the second week of June 2018. The result will consist of the merit list on the basis of marks of the candidates. The candidates will be called on the basis of merit list for the counselling.

The merit list for different categories will be prepared separately for different categories. Those students who do not cross the bar of merit list will not be given admission in JIPMER MBBS.

Applicants should download the result and should preserve the score till the admission procedure is complete for further use in JIPMER.

JIPMER Counselling


The applicants scored marks, which are above the cutoff, are eligible for the admission procedure in the JIPMER. The list will be released for the candidates who get selected for the admission procedure. Before the counselling starts, there are some of the procedures which the candidate have to go through that is the candidate has to get the Biometric finger print and image verification done.

There will be round of counselling and the second round will be conducted in the third week of July 2018. When the candidates are called for the counselling procedure the candidates have to take original documents with them. The documents will go through the verification process by the authorities.

After the verification process, the candidate must be found medically fit by the authority of the JIPMER. After the successful tests, the candidate can appear for the admission in the MBBS JIPMER. To take the admission the candidate must pay the cash for the fees immediately.

The seats are allotted purely on the basis of marks secured in the entrance exam and merit list prepared on that marks.

List of Documents Required at the Time of Admission


Candidates will be required to produce the following documents in original with two sets of self-attested photocopies at the time of admission.

  • Class 10th and 12th Mark sheet
  • Class 10th and 12th Passing Certificate
  • Character Certificate (recent)
  • SC/ST Certificate (if applicable)
  • OBC (Non- Creamy Layer) Certificate
  • At least two passport size self-attested photograph

JIPMER Exam Pattern


Different academic courses have different exam pattern offered by the Institute. The MBBS entrance exam will be based on OMR examination. Following are the points for the entrance exam.

  • Language: The exam was conducted in English medium.
  • No. of Questions: The question paper contained 200 multiple choice questions.
  • Mode of Exam: The exam was organized through CBT (Computer Based Test) mode.
  • Negative Marking: There was no negative marking in this exam.
  • Marking Scheme: One mark was given for each correct response.

JIPMER Syllabus


The syllabus will consist of the detailed syllabus of their 10+2 program in specified programs. The JIPMER syllabus for the entrance exam for MBBS is based on the syllabus of 11th and 12th. The University will release notification for candidates appearing for the MBBS courses that are the official syllabus.  The Institute will release the updated syllabus as soon as released by the officials.
