MU OET 2018: Manipal University Admission, MUOET, Application Form ,Eligibility Criteria


MU OET 2018 Application Form has been released now. MU OET (Manipal University Online Entrance Test) is conducted by the Manipal University. MU OET is an abbreviation for Manipal University Online Entrance Test. It is a University level entrance exam for undergraduate engineering. This exam is conducted by Manipal University. Each year there are 50,000 aspirants who appear for MU OET for the admission in Bachelor of Engineering. Not only undergraduate but also Postgraduate courses are provided by this University in the field of engineering, pharmacy, and many others.

Manipal University conducts this exam in various cities across the country. Admissions are offered to those students who successfully clear the entrance examination in the various institutes of Manipal University. These Universities are Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, Manipal University Jaipur and Sikkim.

Manipal University conducts MUOET in online mode from last week of April to mid of May. These dates are tentative and since exams are conducted consistently aspirants can choose the date which is convenient to them.

MU OET 2018 Exam Dates

All the dates related to the various events of MU OET are important. The estimated dates are provided below. These dates may change by the authority and therefore, aspirants are requested to go to the official website of the Manipal University (MU OET, Manipal University Entrance Test).

Admit Card

MU OET admit card is available online for the candidates after the aspirants are done with slot booking of their preference. Admit card of MU OET is required throughout the process of Admission and acts as identity proof. This document is very important till admission is over. After booking the slot for MU OET, the admit card is available for the aspirant within 24 hours. Aspirants can download theirs admit card from the official website of MU OET.

Tentative Date for Admit card to be present on the official website is in Mid of May. This card will contain the name of the aspirant, roll number, details of the exam, center of the examination, time and date of the examination, applied course, etc.

Printouts of the Admit card are must and aspirants are requested to a carry the printout the Admit card with them to the examination centre.

Note: Aspirants are requested to check the updated dates on the official website since the updating is done by the authority on the official website very first.

Application Form for MU OET

Application form for MU OET is available online from the starting of November 2018. Aspirants can fill the Application form till  11th March 2018. It is mandatory to fill the Application form in order to seat for the MU OET.

MU OET 2018 application form procedure involves:

  • Entering basic information
  • Selecting B.Tech programmes
  • Providing contact information
  • Entering education qualification details
  • Application form submission and confirmation
  • Candidates are able to fill the application form through online mode only.
  • No other mode is applicable to fill the Manipal University application form.
  • Candidates will fill the application form till 11th March 2018 for B.Tech Course.
  • In the application form, candidates have to fill all the relevant details (personal and educational) which are mandatory.
  • Candidates must upload their scanned photograph and signature.
  • Keep the print copy of the filled application for future use.


Eligibility Criteria for MU OET

Eligibility criteria of MU OET 2018-19 is set by the authority of Manipal University. These criteria must be fulfilled by the aspirants who want to take admission in the different courses in Manipal University.

Aspirants appearing for MU OET must have to pass and secure 50% marks in Physics and Mathematics, any other subject in XI and XII or A Level or IB or American 12th grade or equivalent.

Physics, Mathematics, and English are the compulsory subjects with Chemistry or Biology or Biotechnology or any optional technical vocational subject.

A table describing the eligibility criteria for different courses provided by the MU is shown below:

B.TechPassed in the 12th or equivalent exam with Physics, Mathematics & English (compulsory subjects) along with Chemistry, biotechnology, biology or any technical vocational subject with obtaining 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subject.
50% marks in MU OET.
BBACandidates must have passed 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent exam with securing minimum 50% marks.
Lateral B.TechDegree from any recognised university with securing minimum 45% marks.
Must have passed 12th or equivalent exam with Mathematics.
M.TechPassed BE/B.Tech or equivalent with minimum 50% aggregate.
50% marks in MU OET.
MDSStudents must have passed BDS or an equivalent degree recognised by DCI.50% marks in MU OET.

For B.Tech Lateral Entry:

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to pass 3 years Diploma in Engineering & 10+2 examinations from a recognized university.
  • Subjects: Qualify the 10+2 exam with Mathematics as a main subject.
  • Minimum Marks: Score at least 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Age Limit: No minimum age limit.

For M.Tech:

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to clear their BE/B.Tech or AMIE or equivalent exam from a recognized university.
  • Minimum Marks: Pass the above exam with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Marks in Entrance Exam: Candidates must secure minimum 50% marks in MU OET exam.
  • Age Limit: There is no minimum age limit to apply.

For BBA:

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to pass 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Minimum Marks: Candidates must qualify the above examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Age Limit: No minimum age limit.

MU OET Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of MU OET will be vary for various courses offered by the Manipal University. Check the exam pattern below:

For B.Tech/B.Pharm/PharmD:

  • Mode of Exam: The exam will be organized through online mode.
  • Duration: The duration of the exam will be two hours thirty minutes (2½ hours).
  • Type of Questions: The question paper will consist of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ).
  • No. of Questions: Total 200 MCQ type questions will be asked in the MU OET exam.

  • No. of Questions: For M.Tech, total 60 questions will be asked. For MCA, total 100 questions will come in the exam.
  • Marking Scheme: Four marks will be awarded to the candidates for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: For wrong answer, one mark will be deducted.

Exam Pattern for MU OET

MU OET exam pattern gives an idea about how questions will be asked and what is the pattern of the question paper. Aspirants are provided with the brief idea of the various aspects of entrance exam, MU OET. Various aspects are the total number of questions, type of questions asked in the actual test, mode of the exam, marking scheme, weighage given to different sections and subjects, time duration of the test, etc.

  •  Duration: The exam duration is two and half hours.
  • Type: The question paper is comprised of multiple choice questions.
  • Language: The exam is organized in the English language.
  • Mode of Exam: The test is conducted through CBT (Computer Based Test) mode.
  • Marking Scheme: For M.Tech & M.Sc Tech, 4 marks are given for each correct answer & for other courses, 1 marks are allotted for correct response.
  • Negative Marking: For M.Tech & M.Sc Tech, one mark is deducted for the incorrect answer & for other courses, no negative marking.

The result of MU OET

MU (Manipal University) OET results are available online in the last week of May, for those aspirants who have taken the entrance exam – MU OET.  Result of Manipal University is released in the form of Merit list of aspirants for admission to B.Tech programme at  Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, Manipal University Jaipur and Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Sikkim.

Aspirants will have All India Rank (AIR). The aspirant with the highest rank will get the admission in the college or location his/her own preference. Higher the rank more will be the preference.

The score card is generally available for download from the official website of the MU(Manipal University) in the starting of the May.

Aspirants are requested to take out the printout of the results.

Counselling for MU OET

Counselling process for MU OET (Manipal University Online Entrance Test) will start in the month of June for the B.Tech courses.

Aspirants are requested to chose for their counselling venue at the same time when they will select their exam slot.  Official website of the University will contain venue and schedule.

All the candidates will be called according to their ranks and will be given the choice from the available seats. The counselling of MU OET  will tentatively be conducted in 4 rounds with a spot round for admissions to B.Tech programs available at the participating institutes of MU OET.

Cut off for MU OET

Cut off means the minimum score that will be required to take admission or be eligible to take admission in the particular university which sets the cutoff.

MU OET predefines it’s cut off. Admission in B.Tech program at MU is decided by this cutoff. If the aspirant’s score is more than the defined cutoff then the aspirant is eligible to take admission.
The cutoff marks of MU OET 2017 will be determined on the basis of factors like the total number of applicants and examinees, the number of seats available for admissions, etc.

Admission Fee

All the aspirants wish to give this exam have to pay application fees of Rs 600 whereas Rs 1400 will be the entrance exam fees.

Application Fee:

  • The online application fee is Rs.600 & for entrance test the fee is Rs. 1400.
  • The application fee can be paid through one of the following mode:
    • Online payment through credit card/debit card/net banking.
    • Payment can also be made through DD in favor of “Manipal University”, payable at Manipal/Udupi.
