NTA-logoNEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a national level exam conducted for the students who wish to take admission in MBBS or BDS courses. This is a national level entrance examination conducted all over India for the medical candidates.

As this is a national level examination, there will be many different cut off for different courses. This article will give the expected result for NEET cut off for the MBBS course.

Many years back, the NEET exam was not the same as it is now. There wasn’t any objective type questions or any percentile score for the candidates.

Decision made in the Meeting

This system of objective type question and a percentile-based score was taken in the recent meeting held by the authorities.

This system was imposed in the recent meeting with the Medical Council of India’s Governor. This was the technique that is now currently in use to determine the merit of all the candidates appearing for NEET MBBS examination.

This will be the first time that the merit list is been prepared for taking admission to the MBBS course. The merit list will be based on the percentile scores of the candidates in the medical entrance test.

Which was not in the earlier times. Before this process was applied, the merit list was prepared on the basis of the percentage score of the candidates.

The Formula for Calculating Percentile in NEET Examination

The Medical Council of India (MCI), which holds all the medical entrance exams all over India has also decided to keep a cut off for percentile score of all applicants to determine the eligible candidates for admission to medical colleges all over India.

The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is responsible for conducting the NEET Exams.

AIIMS refuses to participate in NEET (UG) for MBBS admission

The AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science), after refusing for holding the post Graduate Entrance Exam for the students across the country, has now told the government that it does not want to join the common undergraduate exam too.

The AIIMS authority said that AIIMS maintains higher standards, and so the following NEET/ CET syllabus would mean reducing their own level of code of conduct.

The decision on this matter will be taken at the next AIIMS governing body meeting by the authorities.

AIIMS source statement

Sources say that AIIMS is an autonomous body, and under the Act of the Parliament, it can conduct its own exams. “AIIMS maintains higher standards and following CET syllabus would mean reducing its status, which is uncalled for,” an AIIMS source said.

The Ministry of Education is also trying to convince AIIMS for conducting PG as well as UG examination. “They have experience in conducting the exam that’s why we approached them. But they expressed their inability in conducting it,” said a senior official at the health ministry.

The MCI

The Medical Council of India has already announced the exam to start from this year, on the other hand, the time is running out as various States like Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and West Bengal have also expressed their objection in the Common Entrance Test.

The members of MCI have also suspected that the moment the CET is notified, many states would approach the court to appeal a file against that.

“The states have issues concerning negative marking, queries related to the reservation policy and seats for private colleges, etc.

There are language issues as well — the states want that the exam should be conducted in regional languages. We are looking into all these issues,” sources in MCI said.

The MCI is looking into a suggestion made by a committee that has recommended that there should be objective type questions and a percentile score to determine the merit of all the candidates.

There has also made an announcement that there would be no negative marking for NEET UG courses. This same rule applies to the NEET MBBS course.
