NTA-logoNEET 2021 Eligibility criteria for the coming year 2021 is given below. The candidates who apply for the NEET examination should check the eligibility criteria for NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) examination properly.

This will help that candidate to fit himself/ herself in the criteria to which he/ she belongs. These eligibility criteria are declared by the exam conducting authority i.e. the National Testing Agency (NTA).

This criterion is very important for candidates because if the criteria are not fulfilled then the candidate won’t be allowed to appear for the exam.

NEET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should check the eligibility before filling the application form. Here, we have mentioned detailed information about NEET Eligibility 2021:

Candidates should check their eligibility for appearing in the NEET Examination. This is very important for the candidates because, without this criterion, the candidates aren’t allowed to sit in the examination.

The exam conducting authority has been Changed year from 2019, now Exam will be conducted by NTA (Nation Testing Agency) to set basic NEET eligibility for the coming year 2021.

The applicants must have passed their HSC or 12th Standard with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. The general class candidates must have scored 50 percent while the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories must have secured 40 percent in the qualifying examination.

There are also some important eligibility criteria such as age, qualification, minimum marks, and other stuff that must be fulfilled by the candidates. If any of the candidates fail to fulfill these criteria then the candidate won’t be allowed to appear for the examination.

Note: As per the directive was given by the Supreme Court in 2016, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the only exam for seeking admissions in around 90000 MBBS and BDS seats in government as well as private medical and dental colleges.

From last year NEET is conducted in 10 different languages including English, Hindi and 8 other different regional languages.

Still, the candidates who qualify for the NEET examination would be eligible for All India Quota and other Quotas under the State Government and Institutes irrespective of the medium in which the examination is given by the candidate.

Eligibility to Appear in NEET 2021

Number of Attempts: As per the latest news, candidates may attempt the exam 9 times (GEN) & 14 attempts (SC/ST/OBC category candidates).

Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar card is not mandatory to apply for NEET 2021 examination.

Nationality

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • NRIs (Non-Resident Indians), OCIs (Overseas Citizen of India), PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin), and Foreign Nationals can also apply for the NEET Examination.

Age Criteria

Applicants have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31 December of the year.

The upper age limit for NEET (UG) is 25 years as of the date of examination with a relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL category and PwD Candidates.

Qualification Criteria:

  • Qualifying exam– The candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Education (HSC) or ICSE which is equivalent to 10 + 2 examinations after 12 years of study.
  • Subjects- The candidates passing the above qualifying exams must have taken Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology, and Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English.
  • Minimum marks– The candidates must secure a minimum of 50 % marks (GEN) category, 40% marks (SC/ST/OBC), 45% marks (GEN PH), and 40% marks (SC/ST/OBC-PH) taken together in PCB (Physics Chemistry Biology) subjects.
  • Appearing Candidates- The candidates who are in the 12th can also apply. But they must have to show their passing certificate complying with the percentage criteria at the time of the first round of counseling.

Note: The students should also note that the marks obtained in math will not be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.

NEET Eligibility for 15 % All India Quota Seats

  • The candidates must be the citizen of India, NRIs, PIOs, OCIs & Foreign Nationals.
  • Also, the candidates belonging to Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are eligible for 15% All India Quota seats only for the admission to the AFMC, Pune based on a self-declaration.
  • Candidates from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and J & K can appear in the NEET exam for admission to Private Medical/Dental Colleges or any Private/Deemed University & Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune.

NEET Eligibility for 85% State Quota Seats

All the candidates participating in the NEET 2021 will fill their Application form in the 85% seats of MBBS and BDS through State counseling, whereas, the remaining 15% of the seats will be filled through All India Centralized Counselling. The eligibility for the 85 % quota seats of the States are mentioned below:

  • Candidates must have completed/appearing his/her 10th and 12th from the state.
  • The candidate must possess a valid domicile of the state.
  • The candidate should possess residency proof of the state.

Eligibility for Seats Under The Control Of States/ Deemed Universities/Central Universities /Seats Of Esic & Afmc Including BHU & AMU/Central Pool Quota:

  • Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs & Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission in Medical/Dental Colleges subject to rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments, Institution, and the Government of India.
  • Foreign nationals can confirm their eligibility from the concerned Medical/Dental College/State.

NEET Eligibility for seats in participating bodies

There are many Institutes and various bodies that are participating in the NEET 2021. , some of them are Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Jamia Hamdard University, University of Delhi.

The OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) candidates may also appear for the exam subject to the rules of the Government of India.

The upper age limit should be considered as per the rules of States, Universities, and institutions for the candidates who want to take admission with the help of participating institutions, universities, and States.
