Pratham Kaushik, who got the 5th rank in the UPSC exam, studied materials and metalurgical engineering at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh.

Pratham Kaushik, 24, a resident of the Mahendragarh district of Haryana, was ranked fifth in the 2017 Civil Service Review, whose results were declared Friday by the Union Public Services Commission.

He studied materials and metallurgical engineering at Punjab Engineering College (PEC) in Chandigarh. Pratham’s father, Narendra Kaushik, is an assistant to the Commissioner of Excise and Taxation in Kaithal.

Kaushik said that Pratham began preparing for the UPSC exam shortly after graduation. “He made his first attempt in 2016 with little preparation, just to study the pattern of the exam, this time he studied a lot and did preliminaries, interviews and interviews,” he said.

Anudeep Durishetty of Hyderabad finished first in the Civil Services Review of 2017, while Annu Kumari and Sachin Gupta finished second and third, respectively.
