PUCET 2018 Physical counselling is conducting from 16th-17th August. It is a state level entrance exam conducted by Punjab University, Chandigarh for applicants seeking admission to the various undergraduate programs under PUCET UG and Master’s degree programs under PUCET PG as offered by the university.

The master’s degree courses include the various program under the law, journalism, public health, disaster management, technology, engineering, arts, and computer science. The exam offers admission to the following undergraduate courses: B.Pharmacy (Credit Based Semester System), B.Sc. (Hons) at the Panjab University Campus, BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) at Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh and others.

The result has been declared on 14th May 2018. Once the scorecard is made available online on the official PUCET 2018 website, the applicant can download his or her scorecard from the website. No separate scorecards will be mailed to the applicants individually.

Applicants will have to follow the steps listed below to get their scorecard:

  • First, open the official website
  • Then click on the link for the PUCET result 2018 “Click here to check PUCET (U.G. & BHMS) – 2018 Entrance Test Result”.
  • Then select the stream the applicant has applied to and check the result for that stream.

PUCET Admission 2018

Admission form filling process has been started from 16th May 2018. Admission will be provided on the basis of merit list prepared by the Punjab University. Only those candidates who will qualify the entrance exam will be eligible to get admission in the University. Merit list will be drawn on the basis of candidate’s performance in the entrance exam.


PUCET 2018 counseling process will be conducted online. The applicants must fill their preferences online for admission in various courses. The seats will be allotted on the basis of PUCET 2018 Merit List. Some of the important points related to PUCETcounseling are listed below:

  • The counseling schedule will be published on the official Punjab University website. The applicants must keep a check on that for accurate details.
  • The applicant will have to submit the Counseling fee either through online mode (credit card/ debit card/ net banking) or offline at the University.
  • The applicant will get a seat based on the PUCET 2018 Merit List and Provisional Admission Letter.
  • Applicants will have to report to the Counseling Centre in the provided time with all the required documents (10th and 12th Mark Sheet, Aadhar Card etc) and counseling fee.
  • If the applicant fails to report on time or pay the counseling fee, his or her application will be rejected.
  • Seats will be allotted online so applicants are requested to regularly check the official Punjab University website.
  • Applicants should carefully fill in the preferences and options as no change will be entertained after they have locked in their preferences.
  • The admission dates and timing of reporting will be displayed along with the Merit list on the official Punjab University website.


The admit card will be issued by the University on 24th April 2018. Applicants can download the admit card from the respective official websites of PUCET UG 2018 and PUCET PG 2018. Applicants will need their login id and password created at the time of registration to get their admit card for PUCET 2018.

Applicants must the following details relevant to their PUCET 2018 admit card:

  • Firstly, applicants will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without the admit card.
  • Secondly, applicants must take multiple printouts of the admit card and keep it safe as they will need it for verification purpose at every level of the admission process.
  • Thirdly, applicants must check that all details given on the admit card are correct or not. Applicants must raise an immediate concern if any detail is found incorrect.




The very first step to give the PUCET is the application form filling process. The applicant has to do this before the tentative last date as mentioned on the Panjab University website. The applicant has to make sure that the eligibility criteria is fulfilled by him or her based on the course he or she is applying for. The applicant has to fill the PUCET application form online and then take a print out of the form.

Applicants will have to send the following additional documents along with the PUCET 2018 application form to the head office, Chandigarh before the last date:

  • Applicant’s mark sheets of all qualifying exams
  • Applicant’s address proof
  • Applicant’s identity proof
  • Applicant’s photographs (as specified in the application form)
  • Application form for B.Sc (Hons. School) and B.Pharma can be accessed from the website.
  • No application form can be accepted after the last date of receipt of application form.
  • The last date to submit the application form is 12th April 2018.
  • Candidates have to upload the scanned photo and signature.

Applicants must note that all the documents have to be self-attested. In case the documents are not attached or the documents are found to be invalid, the application will be rejected.

Applicants must also note that the details once entered by him or her cannot be altered.

Application fee 

The registration fee is Rs. 1760/- + Bank charges (if applicable) for General category Applicants and is Rs. 2100/- for reserved category Applicants. The fee can be paid through online mode (credit/debit card/net banking).It can also be paid offline through a challan that has to be generated from the official portal which can be submitted at any branch of SBI.

  • For General category candidates, the application fee is Rs. 2100/-.
  • For SC/ST/PwD category candidates, the fee is Rs. 1050/-.
  • The aditional paper (Biology or Mathematics) will be Rs. 300/-.
  • The application fee can be paid through SBI bank challan.
  • The application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.



The following eligibility criteria must be noted by the applicants before applying for PUCET 2018:

  • Applicants must have passed or appeared in the 10+2 Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or any equivalent exam conducted by a recognized board or university with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

Please Note: Applicants who have passed or appeared in 10+2 Examinations of Mahila Gram Vidyapeeth, Allahabad are not in the eligibility criteria to appear in PUCET (BHMS) Entrance Test, as this institution has been derecognized by Panjab University, Chandigarh.  Applicants can get a full list of recognized universities from the official website of PUCET UG.

  • Applicants have to be a citizen of India. Foreign citizens will have the option to apply via NRI quota.
  • Applicants must be 17 years of age as on 31st December 2017 to be eligible to apply for PUCET 2018.

PUCET PG 2018 Applicants will have a separate set of eligibility criteria, as listed below:

  • The applicant must have passed the qualifying examination (bachelor degree program or equivalent from a recognized university) for a particular course with a minimum of 50%-55% marks (depending upon the course for which he/ she is applying). Applicants in their final year and appearing for the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply for PUCET PG 2018, provided the applicant pass their qualifying exams by the time of admission.

For further details on the eligibility criteria for both PUCET UG 2018 and PUCET PG 2018, applicants can refer the Panjab University official website.

Reservation of seats for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Persons with Disability (PwD) etc for applicants will be according to the Chandigarh Administration or Panjab University, Chandigarh guidelines.

For Physically Handicapped Applicants, the following eligibility criteria will be applicable:

  • 1st preference – Applicants suffering from Locomotor disabilities of Lower Limbs between 50% – 70%.
  • 2nd preference – Applicants suffering from Locomotor Disabilities of Lower Limbs between 40% – 50%

Applicants with blindness (including colour blindness) and those who are deaf and dumb will not be eligible to sit for PUCET 2018.

PUCET 2018 Seat Reservation

There is reservation of seats for PUCET 2018. The following list gives a detailed idea about the reservation of seats for PUCET 2018:

  • Student of foreign origin nominated by Government of India – 1 Seat.
  • The student from the States and Union Territories lacking facilities in this field and repatriates from Myanmar (Burma), Sri Lanka etc. – 1 Seat.
  • Students from rural area category – 2 Seats.
  • The student from Border Area – 1 Seat.
  • Single girl child with no male siblings – 2 Seats.
  • The student suffering from diseases like Cancer/ AIDS/ Thalassemia – 1 Seat.
  • Additional seats will be created as required for children of officers who have served during Kargil War.



For PUCET UG, the paper will be divided into the following six sections:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Mathematics
  • Biotechnology
  • Computer Science

Each section will be of 70 minutes and carry 60 questions of 2 marks each. Negative marking of 0.25 will be applicable for each incorrect answer.

Answer Key for PUCET 2018

The answer key for PUCET 2018 will be published on the official website after the exam is over. This is done to maintain transparency between the University and the applicants. If an applicant feels that there is a disparity in their marking, he or she must write an official letter to the exam conducting body within 2 days of the declaration of the answer key.


The merit list for the applicants appearing for PUCET 2018 will be based on the following categories:

  • Physics, Chemistry and Biology

  • Physics, Chemistry and Biotechnology
  • Physics, Chemistry and Computer Sciences
  • Mathematics only

The Merit list that will be disclosed on the basis of the following weightage:

Written Exam – 75%

12th Board Scores – 25%.
