What happened on that day when he was selected?

Reporter from Competition Success magazine reached S Nagarajan’s home to tell the news that he has topped IAS examinations

After listening this good news S Nagarajan’s first priority to call his mother and he called her and his mother told Thirukural in Tamil which means

A Mother Is Happy When She Delivers a Son She’s Happier When He Becomes A Scholar.

His father Srinivasan received more than 200 calls for his son’s success and mother received many calls that she had to answer 400 times in a single day
She revealed that she do not count the number of people who come to congratulate them personally.

 

S Nagarajan was also known as Bheem in his Engineering College as he was longer than six feet.

The question was that whom he would like to attribute his success?

 

He answered that he attributes access to his family members and friends. In fourth attempt his friends was very supportive and also his single-minded devotion intelligent hard works determination and dedication played important role in lifting him to this position.

 

What promoted him for preparing civil service examinations?
He was brought up to the district town. It was very old town more than 200 year old. He was thinking that district collector is simplest easiest job in this district. The challenging nature of the job opportunities to feel for suffering of people and so their problems as soon as possible motivated him to become an IAS.

 

Why you prefer to join Indian Administrative Service?
He thinks that Indian Administrative Service offers full-time public service.
According to him in private sector no one can do public service from their own salary to charity after making good money.

 

 

What To Do After Graduation In Electrical Engineering?
It was that he completed his graduation in 2000 and given the prelims in the same year and cleared the main but fail to get in examinations of interview. He also think that being an IAS is better than corporate job.

 

Question asked by competition wizard why did he decided to join interactions for geography?
He told that there were two institutes that he has shortlisted. He has taken suggestions from the seniors and friends they suggested to join interactions because the guidance of interactions is quite authentic and well planned to the point.

 

Why did you choose sociology ?
One of his friend Mr Deepak Chaudhary suggested him to of sociology he felt that he had an aptitude for sociology rather than psychology.

 

How did you manage the final attempt?
In his last attempt he was stuck to the syllabus. For example by the end of preparation in sociology he could write at least 200 words on a bishop topic in the syllabus. 200 words mean 10 to 20 point depending upon the writing style.

Preparation of notes or reading books ?
He told that he did not make notes condensing the books. He made notes heading wise.

 

How did you prepare for personality test this time
In previous attempts inspiration was good but not best. He told that he was rushing to close coaching classes. More thinking about personality and bio data required rather than trying to know more about current affairs.

 

How many hours did he study daily?
He revealed that at least 6 hours  a day, morning and evening 3 hours each. But you did not do any other activity to keep momentum it is better to have teamwork.

 

A question asked to him that what is the role of luck in civil services
He answered bad luck will put people out and without preparation no anybody in.

I want to start a new career when he will get retired from this.

    Sir, nice to see your travel to IAS from EEE. Very good efforts taken to reach the said goal. Congratulations on your new assignment as ADS to Govt. in H&FW Dept. Sir. My daughter is also doing Civil Service Examination after completing B.E. Civil in Sai Ram Engg. College, Chennai. Her subject is Geography. Her mother V.
