Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Secretary Son IAS Saketa Raja Musinipally

Securing rank 14th in UPSC CSE 2014, Saketa Raja Musinipally has topped in two states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. On his glorious success while interviewing in a session he said, “I expected, to be in the top 1,000 but I definitely did not expect such a high rank.”

His father M. Ratan was state information commissioner and mother is former special chief secretary M. Chaya Ratan, who contested from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the last general elections. On this family civil background Saket Raja says, “They gave me practical inputs on how to deal with questions and that helped me a lot”.

Saketa has given preference for Indian Foreign Service. He says, “India needs more IFS officers who can draft vigorous foreign policy. Also, it will allow me to travel, something that I really enjoy doing”.

He succeeds to crack the exam in his first attempt only. For him, eight hours of dedicated study continuous for 11 months were sufficient in order to reach his goal. In 2013, he started preparing for UPSC and daily spent two hours for newspapers reading and three hours for each subject.

Saketa Raja is a practising lawyer working with a top law firm in New Delhi.

Saketa Raja Musinipally Mother M Chaya Ratan was retired from United Andhra Pradesh as a Bureaucrat and His Father Matan was an Retired IPS officer. His Father was Director General of Police , Vigilance and Enforcement and presently working as the State Information Commissioner (RTI).

In an interview givven to The Hans India, Saketa Raja said, “In the first attempt I cleared the examination. I did go for coaching classes but they were not helpful.  The examination is tough but not impossible.” Saketa, who loves running and trekking, wants to take up Indian Foreign Service.

Saketa’s Father Mratan said that “he  had never pushed him to take up the examinations. “On his own, Saketa took up the challenge and cleared it,”
