SSB Interview 2020 – Check Selection Procedure Here

SSB (Service Selection Board) is an organization that is set-up by the Ministry of Defence, India. SSB (Service Selection Board) is an organization that is set-up by the Ministry of Defence, India. Service Selection Board is the body that schedule, organize and conduct the SSB Interview of the candidates applying for Indian Military Forces. The SSB is also known as Service Selection Board and Ministry of Defence, India has started this organization.

The Service Selection Board has organized and conducted the SSB Interview for the Indian Military Forces and those applicants want to go to Army, Navy and Air Force, they must have to complete the procedure of SSB Interview, which will be conducted by the Service Selection Board.

The SSB Interview will be done for 5 days and there will be two stages of testing such as stage I & stage II. This interview will be done at the various SSB centers, which will be selected by the Service Selection Board. SSB Examination

Those applicants want to apply in Army/Navy/Naval Academy and Air Force; they have to score minimum qualifying marks separately in written test & Officer Potentiality Test.

The applicants should be qualified in Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) & Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) separately; they can apply in the Air Force.

Those applicants first choice will be Air Force, they have to apply in Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) separately. The qualified candidates of SSB can also apply in PABT.

The Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) is the popular test and this test was conducted to provide training to the candidates for Pilot and PABT should prefer by all aspirants once.

There are three tests such as Instrument Battery Test (INSB), Control Velocity Test (CVT) and Sensory Motor Apparatus Test (SMA) consisted by PABT.

The applicants must have to clear three examinations to go in the SSB Interview and the tests are

  • National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination (NDA & NA Exam)
  • Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE)
  • Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)
  • As per the result of candidates in these tests, the SSB interview will be scheduled for the candidates.
  • The applicants must have to score qualified marks necessarily to become the final selection in SSB Interview round.
  • On the basis of marks in the test, candidates can attend the SSB Interview and there will be two stages such as stage 1 and stage 2.
  • Stage 1 will include Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP & DT).
  • Stage 2 includes Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference.
  • These all procedure will be done 4 or 5 days and it will carry 900 marks.

SSS Interview Procedure

There are the Stage 1 and Stage 2 process and those applicants will be qualified in the stage, only they will go for stage 2 and there is the counseling procedure as mentioned below.

Stage 1

  • Stage 1 is the screening test.
  • It consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP & DT).
  • Those will score qualified marks in these tests; they will be shortlisted in the merit list.

Stage 2

  • This stage is managed for four (4) days.
  • It consists of Psychology Tests, Group Testing Officer Tasks (GTO Tasks), Interview & Conference.

Five Days SSB Selection Procedure

Reporting (Day 1)

The selected applicants must have to report at the selection center along with original documents with photocopies for verification.

After the documents verification, Personal Information Questionnaire (PIQ) Forms should be filled by the candidates.

PIQ Forms

  • Candidates have to fill their personal details regarding educational profile, family background, etc. in this form
  • This form is mandatory for candidates.
  • It forms a base of questions, which might be put to an aspirant at the individual interview round.
  • The responses will be analyzed by the psychologist of the Board.

Screening Test

  • Candidates should have to give an Intelligence Test (Verbal & Non-Verbal) & Picture Perception Test.
  • In this test, slide (hazy or clear) is shown for 30 seconds & candidates have to write the story.
  • After finishing this test, the group discussion round takes place. This sequence is commonly known as Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PDT).

Intelligence Test

  • It comprises both; verbal and non-verbal questions.
  • It is a written test that includes multiple-choice questions.
  • The time allotted to answer each question is 30 seconds.

Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP & DT): 

  • This test includes story writing and discussion.
  • A picture will be shown to the candidates for 30 seconds and candidates have to write a story based on the picture in 3 minutes.

Psychology Test (Day 2)

The Psychology Test is a written test, which is managed by the Psychologist. The Psychologist officer will check the Psychological suitability of candidates in this test.

Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)

  • It is called Picture Story writing.
  • This test is very similar to PDT. In this test, about 11 pictures will be shown.
  • Each picture will be displayed just for 30 seconds after that candidates have to write a story based on the picture within 4 minutes.
  • After 4 minutes another picture will be displayed and the same procedure will be followed until the last slide.
  • The twelfth slide will be blank where a candidate is supposed to write any story of their own choice.

Word Association Test (WAT)

  • It is the second psychological test of the SSB selection procedure.
  • In this test, 60 words will be shown back to back for a period of 50 seconds.
  • Candidates have to write the first thought that comes to their mind for those words.

Situation Reaction Test (SRT)

  • In this test, candidates will get a booklet with 60 situations written on it.
  • Candidates have to write their responses based on those 60 situations.

Self-Description Test (SD)

  • In this test, candidates have to write their opinion about their parents, themselves, friends, teachers & others.
  • The time will be allotted 15 minutes.
