TANCET 2020: Counseling (Started), Score Card, Cut Off, Admission Procedure

TANCETTANCET 2020 Admission Rank List has been Released for the GATE & TANCET Category. Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test comes under the administration of Anna University which is organized by proxy of the Government of Tamil Nadu. There are several courses made available by the University such as M.Tech/M.E./M.Plan/M.Arch, MCA, and MBA.

TANCET 2020 Exam Date has been held on 29th February 2020 ( MCA & MBA) and 1st March 2020 (M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch/ M.Plan). Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is a state-level exam held once every year. Through this entrance test, candidates are offered admission into various PG courses like MBAM.TechMCAM.Arch, M.Plan, M.E, etc.

Admission to the exam qualifying candidates is provided in various Government and Non-Government colleges. The aspirants will need to register themselves at the website to complete the application process. The Application Form will be available online, and the aspirants will require filling the details in a specific manner.

 TANCET 2020 Admit Card 

TANCET 2020 Admit Card has been available on 13th February 2020. After fulfilling the eligibility criteria and application process, they will need to have to download the hall ticket for TANCET 2020. The admit card is necessary for students to gain entry during the exam. It will furnish the crucial contents which have to be carried on the day of the exam. The aspirants who want to appear for the exam must possess an admit card on the day of the exam as those without the Admit Card of TANCET 2020 will not be allowed to take the exam.

The admit card for TANCET contains details regarding the exam such as timing, date, venue, etc.

TANCET 2020 Application Form

The candidates will require filling the Application Form to get admission into various courses. The TANCET 2020 Application Form has been available through the online process on the web page. It will be necessary for the aspirants to fill up all the details in the correct manner.

  • TANCET 2020 Application Form has been available through online mode.
  • Candidates have been able to fill the Application Form from 7th January 2020.
  • The Last Date of the Online Application fee is Extended till 4th February 2020.
  • Candidates will have to fill in only one form for all three entrance tests.
  • They only need to fill a single form for getting through three entrance exams.
  • Aspirants will not be provided with an Application Form by post or offline.

Application Fee:

Mode of Payment: Candidates can make application fee payment online using debit card/ credit card / net banking.

  • For General Candidates, the fee is Rs.600/-
  • For ST/SC/SCA Candidates, the fee is Rs.300/-
  • If candidates want to appear for more than one program, for every additional program, they have to pay Rs. 600/- more and for SC/ST/SCA candidate belonging to Tamil Nadu Rs. 300/- has to be paid.
  • After filling the form, you should pay the fee which is Rs.600, and for SC and ST categories, the application fee is Rs.300/.

TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) 2021 is conducted through Anna University to provide admission to the candidates in post-graduation programs such as M.Tech, MBA, MCA, and M.Arch. In the various colleges/institutes of Tamil Nadu, admission will offer to the candidates as per their marks in this examination. The TANCET 2021 Application Form will be started from the 1st week of April 2021 and till the last week of May 2021, it will be available.

TANCET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

  • The aspirants can apply for the exam after meeting the eligibility criteria set by the Government of Tamil Nadu. This exam is held for varied courses, so the eligibility differs significantly.
  • The aspirants applying for TANCET 2020 should have their residence in the state of Tamil Nadu.
  • Those who are belonging to other states can also apply for the exam.
  • The qualification will be varying the course.

General Eligibility

  • Other State Candidates: Candidates of other states are also eligible for entrance test provided the eligibility conditions will be predetermined by the University.
  • Appearing: Candidates studying in the final semester of their Bachelor’s degree can also apply.
  • GATE Score: Students with the valid scorecard of GATE need not appear for the Entrance Test. However, candidates with a valid score in Engineering Science and Life Science are required to appear for the test to get admission.

For M.Tech/M.Arch/M.E./M.Plan

Qualifying Exam– Aspirants must possess a Bachelor’s degree or degrees relevant to it.

Minimum Marks- The aspirants who have cleared the degree with 50% will be eligible for admission into the desired course and those from reserved categories will require obtaining 45%.

GATE Score Aspirants bearing a relevant and reasonable mark sheet of the GATE from 2017, 2018, and 2020 will be given priority.


Qualifying Exam- Aspirants must hold three years of Bachelor’s degree.

Minimum Marks- They need to clear the exam by securing at least 50% marks, and the reserved candidates will need to have 45%.


Qualifying Exam- Aspirants must bear a Bachelor’s degree in the subject Mathematics on the standard of 10+2 and graduation.

Minimum Marks- They should have got 50% in the exam, and the reserved categories will only need to get 45%.

TANCET 2020 Exam Pattern

  • The TANCET 2020 Exam will be held offline.
  • The exam will be continuing for two hours.
  • In the exam, there will be 100 objective questions.
  • For one correct answer, you will get one mark.
  • For the incorrect answer, a 1/3 mark will be given.
  • Mode: The exam will be held in offline mode.
  • Duration: The total time duration will be 2 hours.
  • Total Number of Questions: There will be 100 questions for the MBA and MCA paper. For M.E. / M.Tech./M.Arch/M. Plan, a total of 115 questions will be in the exam.
  • Total Marks: The question paper will be of a total of 100 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

TANCET 2020 Syllabus

Those who want to opt for MCA programs will have to prepare for the exam on Quantitative ability, Analytical reasoning, Logical reasoning, Computer awareness, Verbal ability, and Basic Sciences.

Those opting for MBA will be preparing for the following Topics-Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation, Quantitative Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning.

For MBA Programme:

Questions asked in the MBA paper will be from various topics that will test the candidate’s ability and skills. Various sections will:

  • Identify the data critically and apply the data to a business decision from given business situations.
  • Evaluate the candidate’s skill in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension.
  • Evaluate the candidate’s skill in determining data sufficiency questions using the given data and mathematics questions.
  • Also, it will test the candidate’s knowledge in English with questions asked on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation, etc.

For MCA Programme:

The questions in the paper will be asked from various sections – Analytic Reasoning, Quantitative Ability, Computer Awareness, and Logical Reasoning. Also, questions will be based on verbal activity, basic science, etc.

For M.E./M.Arch./Plan/M.Tech:

Section 1 will consist of topics in Engineering Mathematics. The Topics will be based on Calculus and Differential Equations, Transforms, Numerical Methods, Vector Calculus, Determinants and Matrices, and Applied Probability.

Section 2, will consist of topics based on Basic Engineering and Sciences. Section 3 will consist of various topics from various specialized subjects.

TANCET 2020 Answer Key

TANCET 2020 Answer Key will be released in the last week of May 2020. Candidates can check the correct answers to the questions asked in the entrance exam. Also, candidates can calculate their expected marks for the exam.

To calculate the score candidates have to first go through the marking scheme of the question paper. If candidates found any problem in the answer key, they can also submit their suggestions and make objections against the answer key. After the correction, the authority will release the final answer key to the candidates.

TANCET 2020 Result

The conducting body has been announced the result online after one to two weeks of the exam. The aspirants can check their performance by login in through the web page. The candidates qualifying for admissions will be invited for counseling and seat allotment beginning from July 2020.

  • The TANCET 2020 Result has been Declared on 11th March 2020.
  • It will require downloading the result copy from the official website by entering the roll no and date of birth.

The scorecard will display details of overall marks, sectional marks, percentile score, and other details. Candidates must take the printout of the result for further use in the admission process. Also, the university will release separate rank lists for shortlisting the candidates.

TANCET 2020 Cut Off

Candidates must score the qualifying cut off marks to get admission in the university and affiliated institutions. TANCET 2020 Cut off will be released separately for each offered course. Cut off will be different for different categories of candidates.

The cut-off will be prepared by some factors such as availability of vacant seats, previous years’ cut off, marking scheme, the difficulty level of exam, etc. The authority will publish the category wise cut off for TANCET and GATE qualified students separately.

TANCET 2020 Counselling

Aspirants will need to take part in the counseling procedures for getting into various courses through admission. They can appear for counseling after the result is out. The aspirants who are qualified with considerable marks are going to attend the counseling. They are required to perform for TANCET 2020 Counselling at the scheduled time and date. TANCET 2020 Counselling has been started from 28th August 2020. For participating in the counseling, they will need to go through registration procedures.

  • After the completion of registration, they must fill in their desired choices for the course. Once you have chosen the path of your preference, it will be locked, and no modification can be done.
  • The whole schedule of the counseling will be put up on the website. The aspirants will need to get their documents confirmed by the authority.
  • They will be provided with the seat as per choice-filled, the number of the vacant position, scores.
  • The selected students should carry their required credentials along with their photocopies at the time of counseling. It will also need to submit the fee which is deposited on the same day of the counseling.
