Saloni Sidana Ranked 74th in UPSC Exam  2013

Saloni sidana in her very first attempt cleared Civil Services Examination.

She ranked 74th and fulfilled her dream of becoming IAS and UPSC Exam Topper 2013.

Saloni was working as a doctor and after serving for few years she realize that she needs a broader platform to help the nation in the way she wants.

Saloni explained why she became IAS after being a doctor, She said, “I realized that civil services can provide me a broader platform and a chance to work in many areas affecting people’s lives.”

Saloni gave the credits of success to her parents, she said,”A big contribution to success came from my parents, near/dear ,friends and especially my teachers at coaching institute I joined.”

Saloni’s father is an agriculturist and her mother is a housewife.
Saloni had two siblings her elder sister and younger brother and they all lived in Jalalabad (Punjab).

Jalalabad is a remote small village in Fazilka district and according to census 2001, the population was 47,275.

 

She further said that her brother and sister always supported her for her dream and helped her to accomplish it they way Saloni want to become an IAS officer.

Saloni’s dad was always busy in social service that was a great inspiration for her and her mother motivated her to achieve what she aspire.

Her friends and her teacher played a very keen role in guiding her, motivated her when she felt low, applauded when she performed well and scolded whenever she went wrong.

Saloni says, “Being an IAS in the first attempt was not a cakewalk, but it was neither like climbing a mountain.”

At a time when several reports have claimed that people are having trouble in organising their wedding functions due to the cash crunch after demonetisation of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, an IAS couple has set an excellent example by getting married for just Rs 500.

The Rs 500 they spent on the wedding was their fee to the ADM court in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh. MP cadre IAS officer Ashish Vashishta is presently posted as the SDM in Gohad while his love interest is posted as SDM in Vijayawada. Both of them had cleared the IAS exam in 2013 and they came closer during their training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.

 

Ashish had earlier applied for the wedding in Bhind ADM court. They received a date on November 28. The couple reached the ADM court with their respective family members on Monday and completed legal formalities of the wedding. The couple said they wanted a simple wedding.

“They wanted to get married and it was solemnised in the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) court,” Bhind Collector T Ilaya Raja said.

While Ashish is from Rajasthan, Saloni is from Punjab. Post marriage, Saloni may get Madhya Pradesh cadre as per the rules so that the husband and wife can be together as far as possible, he said. “The marriage was a simple affair. The entire staff wished them on the occasion,” the Collector added.

 

Ashish Vashishta and Saloni Sidana tied the knot in the court of the district marriage officer here.

Ashish is now posted as Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) at Gohad in the district while Saloni, who is an MBBS, is serving in the Andhra Pradesh cadre.
