XAT 2018 Result/Score Card has been released now.XAT exam is organized by Xavier Labor Relations Institute on the behalf of XAMI. XAT stands for Xavier Aptitude Test and it is a university level entrance exam.

The main aim is to provide candidates admission into management courses, XAT Associate Member Institutes and into academic programmes of XLRI. In India 47 cities and outside India (Dubai & Kathmandu) 2 cities are conducted for candidates.

More than 150 B-Schools of the country provide admission from 60 years it is organized XAT exam at all India level basis. More than 100 college & institutions except for the score of XAT exam and provide admission to candidates. There are many colleges for admission but candidates will get admission on their basis of score marks in the examination.

The application form will be released on the 16th August 2017 and the Last Date of Application submission is on December 15, 2017. The candidate has to fill the application form before the due date, the application will be canceled if candidate submitted after the due date.


The application will be available through online, official portal of authority. Candidates have to write full detail as described below and upload your scanned images of photograph & signature.

XAT 2018 registration process is the primary step towards applying for XLRI and XAT associated institutions. The detailed application form process, fees, how to fill, when to fill, etc. detail:


  • Candidates have to apply through the online mode for XAT 2018 exam.
  • Candidates have to log in to the website and then have to register by creating their account. This will provide you with XAT ID and password.
  • Fill all the required details such as personal, contact, qualification, etc.
  • Upload the scanned images of photograph & signature.
  • Make the fee payment through online or offline mode.
  • Send the confirmation page along with required documents of the application form to the address mentioned below:

Application Fee:

Application fees can be paid through online and by offline mode. Candidates are suggested to take printed copies of filled application form. Candidates can pay by the no online payment gateway, cash payment, and demand draft.

Mode of Payment

There are three possible modes of payment

  • Online Payment Gateway: Through VISA/Master Credit/Debit Cards (American Express Card is inadmissible). IDBI Net Banking (this option is available only for IDBI account holder)
  • Cash Payment: Please take a print out of the XAT Pay-In-Slip visit nearest IDBI bank and make the payment.
  • Demand Draft: Issue a DD from any Bank in favor of “XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT” payable at Jamshedpur. The DD needs to be sent at the following The Chairperson Admission, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur- 831001. The same must be sent within fifteen days from the issuance of DD.


  • Candidates interested in XAT but not in XLRI need to pay Rs. 1600/- only.
  • Candidates interested in XLRI programmes need to pay an additional fee of Rs.300/- each.
  • The fee payment can be done through online modes like debit/credit card or net banking.
  • For cash payment, candidates have to take a printout of XAT Pay-In-Slip visit the nearest IDBI bank and pay the application fee.
  • For payment through DD, make a DD in favor of “XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT” payable at Jamshedpur from any bank.


  • Visit net.in.Create a new account with your personal email id, you will receive a unique XAT ID and registration link. You need to create your XAT Password.
  • Select your Citizenship (Indian/ Foreign / NRI).
  • If you are interested to apply for XLRI, select the programme of your choice Business Management (BM)/Human Resource Management (HRM)/Global Business Management(GBM)/General Management Programme (GMP). Candidates not interested in any of the XLRI programmes can skip this step.
  • Fill all basic required information.
  • Provide your mailing address and permanent address.
  • Provide your educational qualification starting from 10th
  • Provide details of work experience starting from the latest job. Candidates desirous of applying to GMP must have total experience of five years until March 31.
  • Choose the XAT test city.
  • Please upload your scanned digital photograph and signature less than 1 MB

Candidates need to fill the following information in the registration process: 

  • Preliminary information (Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Category and Phone Number etc.)
  • Mailing (communication) address and permanent address
  • Educational qualification from Class 10 onwards
  • Work experience starting from the latest job
  • Choose the XAT test city

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must know about XAT eligibility criteria. Students fail to know about criteria which affect them at the time of admission process. Candidate should know basic information of XAT exams like the candidate from India or from foreign can apply.

Candidate should have bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any stream from the recognized authority in any discipline. Candidate appearing final exams can also apply for admission.


Candidates are advised to check their eligibility criteria before applying:

  • Nationality: All Indian candidates can appear for XAT 2018.

  • Qualification: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any stream from any recognized college or institution.

  • Appearing Candidates: Candidates completing their final examination by June 10, 2018, are also eligible to apply.

  • Foreign Candidate: N RI & foreign candidates can also apply through GMAT score (except Dubai & Kathmandu wherein candidates have the option to appear in the XAT 2018 examination).


XAT Exam Pattern

Making good plan and going through syllabus and exams pattern has help lot of candidate to score good marks in exam. Candidate will; be given pen and paper based examination and paper will be divided into 2 sections. Paper 1 will contain 72 question, paper 2 will have 25 GK question and an essay.

Candidate will be given Total 170 minutes for paper 1 and  35 minutes for paper 2 no extra time will be given to any candidate by supervisors.


  • Exam Mode: The exam will be conducted through pen & paper based mode.
  • Number of Papers: The XAT exam is divided into two sections i.e. is paper 1 and paper 2.
  • Number of Questions: The paper 1 will consist of 72 questions and paper 2 will consist of 25 questions & one essay topic.
  • Duration: The total time given for paper 1 is 170 minutes and paper 2 is 35 minutes.


XAT is a paper pencil based test of 210 minutes duration. It is a combination of objective and subjective questions, although the majority of the questions are objective multiple choice type. XAT question paper is divided into two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2.


XAT Paper 1 – The duration of Paper 1 is 170 minutes or 2 hours 50 minutes.  There are three sections in this paper, Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation.


XAT Paper 2 – This paper is a combination of objective and subjective type questions. The sections of Paper 2 are General Knowledge/Awareness and Essay Writing. There are 25 questions in the GK section. Candidates are given only one topic for essay writing. The duration of this paper is 35 minutes.


XAT Marking Scheme –  Each question carries 1 mark and for each wrong answer, there is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. There is negative marking of 0.05 marks involved for unattempted questions as well, beyond 13.


The test would be split into two:

  • Aptitude Test
  • Essay and GK.

The Aptitude section would consist of:

  • Verbal and Logical Ability
  • Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation
  • Decision Making.

XAT Admit Card

XAT Admit card/Hall ticket is a mandatory document it is candidates responsibility to keep it safe. Candidates’ will be not allowed to attain exam if they didn’t bring hall ticket at the time of the exam. Who successfully submitted their documents can only download their hall ticket.

Candidate can download their hall ticket through online, official portal. The candidate is suggested to keep copies of hall ticket for further use. Hall ticket contains candidate-related detail like candidate roll number, center, name, the birth of dates, etc. Keep it safe till the completion of an exam.


  • Candidates can download their admit card via online mode.
  • XAT Hall Ticket will be released in the third week of December.
  • It is mandatory to bring the admit card to the examination hall.
  • Admit card contains various details like personal details, time, exam date, exam center, and important instructions regarding the exam.


 XAT Result

Candidates can check their XAT result 2018 from the official portal of authority in the last week of January. Candidate can see their result on the website by entering roll number and other detail if candidate type wrong detail n it page will show error. For correct page, the candidate has to type correct detail.

Candidates’ can save a page in laptop/computer or can take the screenshot on a phone. Keep printed copies of your result for further admission process.

XAT Answer Key

Answer key will be released after the examination on official portal of authority. Candidates can check answer key through online, official portal. Authority will publish 2nd or 3rd week of January.

This will help a candidate to roughly check their marks/score of examination. Candidate can estimate marks and check answer written in an examination. This will help candidates to gain the opportunity to get shortlisted by XLRI or other top colleges accepting XAT scores


How to Download the XAT Answer Key

To download the XAT answer key candidates have to follow the following procedure that is given below.

  • Click on the official link.
  • The answer key will be opened in the Pdf format on the screen.
  • Download the answer key & take a printout of it.
  • Take some extra printout of the answer key for further reference.


XAT Admission

Candidate scores good marks in the exam will get admission. Candidate interested in counseling can download a letter of counseling from the website. Candidates’ have to face two round 1st GD (group discussion) & 2nd PI (Personal Interviews) rounds.The seat will be given to that candidate who passed in counseling round.

Merit list will be prepared according to top score marks by the candidate. Appearing candidate have to bring all required documents for verification and registration if in case the candidate submits incorrect document and found at the time of registration candidate admission will be canceled.


  • On the basis of the score of the candidates in the XAT entrance exam, candidates will be invited for XAT counseling procedure.
  • Counseling will be held through online process.
  • During the admission procedure, candidates will have to go through the process of GD (group discussion) & PI (Personal Interviews) rounds.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for admission as per the marks obtained by them in the examination and GD/PI.


XAT Cut-off

Different colleges have different cut off marks.  According to XAT cut off marks candidates get admission in college and institutions. Every year college their cut-off marks on the basis of the candidate appearing marking scheme, the number of seat and difficulty level of the entrance exams.
