Educational Qualification

  • Master’s Degree: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or an equivalent examination recognized by UGC with at least 55% marks for General/EWS category candidates.
  • Reserved Categories: For BC/SC/ST/Transgender/PwD category candidates, a minimum of 50% marks in the Master’s degree or an equivalent examination is required.
  • Final-Year Students: Candidates pursuing their Master’s degree or awaiting the final year’s results are also eligible to apply provisionally. However, they must obtain the requisite percentage within two years from the date of the APSET result.
  • Transgender Category: Transgender candidates enjoy the same relaxations in fee, age, and qualifying criteria as SC/ST/PwD categories. Subject-wise cut-offs for this category are the lowest among those for SC/ST/PwD/BC categories in the corresponding subject.

Ph.D. Degree Holders

  • PhD degree holders whose Master’s level examination was completed by September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.

Subject Selection

  • Candidates are advised to appear for the APSET exam in their respective post-graduation subjects. However, if their subject is not listed in the SET subjects, they can choose a related subject.

Document Verification

  • Candidates are not required to send certificates/documents during registration. However, they must ensure their eligibility. If found ineligible, their candidature will be cancelled.

Equivalence of Foreign Degrees

  • Candidates with foreign degrees should verify their diploma/degree/certificate equivalence with Master’s degrees from recognized Indian universities through the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Assistant Professor Eligibility

  • Qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the Assistant Professor position only in universities/colleges in Andhra Pradesh where they have cleared their APSET exam. NET/SET/SLET remains the minimum eligibility for Assistant Professor positions, subject to UGC regulations and government guidelines.
