The Bharat Ratna Mahamansa Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya has founded the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in the year of 1916. It is a popular university, which is also counted in the Central Universities in India. This university offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and Diploma/Certificate programs in the various fields for the candidates.

The BHU conducts its own entrance examination such as UET (Undergraduate Entrance Test) & PET (Postgraduate Entrance Test) for the candidates to provide the admission in their aspiring programs. There are the various affiliated colleges of BHU providing admission to the candidates.

The candidates having passed a one-year certificate course in Sanskrit of BHU after passing 10+2 examination with 50% marks in aggregate both in 10+2 examination and certificate examination are also eligible.
BACHELOR OF EDUCATION COURSES B. Ed. (Bachelor of Education) / B. Ed. (Ag.), if he/she has passed 10+2/Intermediate examination in agriculture or in Science (with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology) or any other equivalent examination recognized by the University securing at least 50% marks in aggregate. For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, the eligibility will be as per the University rules.
B.V.Sc. & A.H. – RGSC9 Semesters + 6 months Internship (5Years)MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: A candidate shall be eligible for admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H., if he/she has passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or the Indian School Certificate Examination or Intermediate examination (or equivalent examination) in Science from a recognized Board/University with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (which shall include a practical test in these subjects) and English securing at least 50% marks in aggregate and must have passed each of the aforesaid subjects individually.
LL.B. (Bachelor of Law)6 Semesters (3 Years)MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: B.A./ B.Sc./ B.Com./ Shastri (at least 10+2+3 pattern) securing a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate considering all the subjects in the three years except those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do under at least 10+2+3 pattern recognized by the Bar Council of India for the purpose of admission to LL.B. Course securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate considering all the subjects in the three years (aggregate being calculated as mentioned above). “(Note- As per the directive of the Bar Council of India, the candidates who have obtained 10+2 or Graduation/Post-graduation through open Universities system directly without having any basic qualifications for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission in Law Courses)”.

Eligibility for MBA and MBA-IB Program:

Admission to the MBA & MBA-IB Programs shall be made through CAT. Eligibility criteria defined under CAT shall be deemed as applicable provided candidates belong to categories other than SC / ST has secured a minimum 50% marks at the qualifying examination. For SC/ST candidates, at least 45% marks are required.

  • A graduate degree under 10+2+3 Pattern,

OR

  • A degree in Agriculture, Technology, Medicine, Education or Law,

OR

  • A Post-graduate degree in any discipline.

Important Notes:

  1. The above qualifying degree must be obtained from any Indian University/Institution recognized by AIU/AICTE.
  2. To be eligible for admission, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate at the qualifying examination as given above under
  • , (b) or (c) as the case may be. For SC/ST candidates, at least 45% marks are required.
  • A candidate appearing at the qualifying examination is required to furnish a certificate from the Head of the Institution where he/she is pursuing the course of study, to the effect that he/she has appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying examination to be concluded on or before June 30 of the year of admission.
  1. If such a candidate is offered provisional admission, he/she must submit the proof of acquiring minimum eligibility criteria, i.e., Mark-sheet of the qualifying examination by October 05 of the year of admission.

The total intake in the MBA & MBA-IB Programs shall be 46 each, and there shall be Reservation for the following categories as per University / Government of India Rules:

The Category to which the applicant belongs once mentioned on the Application Form will be final, and no subsequent change will be allowed. If boxes requiring an indication of the category on the application form are left blank, the candidate will be treated under “General Category’.

  • The candidates seeking admission under the above categories must fulfill the minimum eligibility conditions and qualifying requirements.
  • The SC/ ST candidates must enclose attested copy of the caste certificate along with their Application Form stating that the candidate belongs to SC/ST. Candidates claiming admission under NC-OBC Category must submit the latest NC- OBC certificate (not older than six months) as per University rule.

(I) District magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/ Addl. Deputy Commissioner/Deputy Collector /Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate/City Magistrate/Sub Divisional magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate /Extra Assistant Commissioner.

  • Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Addl. Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Presidency Magistrate.
  • Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
  • Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and his family normally resides.
  • Administrator/Secretary to the Administrator/ Development Officer (Lakshadweep Islands).
  • Candidate must note that certificate from any other person/authority shall not be accepted in any case.
  • 5% seats shall be reserved for Physically Challenged Candidates: (a) blindness and low vision; (1%) + (b) deaf and hard of hearing; (1%) + (c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; (1%) + (d) autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness; (1%) + (e) multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness in the posts identified for each disabilities: (1%) (on horizontal reservation basis). Such candidates will have to submit a self-attested copy of Disability Certificate issued by the District CMO with the Application Form. The candidates called for Counseling for possible provisional admission will be examined by a Medical Board constituted by BHU and if necessary, will be referred by the Medical Board to other recognized bodies for the purpose, as per criteria fixed by the University. The decision of the Medical Board constituted by BHU will be final. The Entrance Test for Blind candidates will be held at Varanasi Centre only.
  • Separate final merit list shall be prepared for the candidates under each of the above categories, taking into consideration combined merit of CAT Score, Academic Score, Group Discussion & Interview.

(g) Vacant seats reserved for SC/ST/NC-OBC candidates, if any, may be filled up as per Govt. of India rules.

  • Any other category eligible for admission as per Central Govt. regulations as on the last date of submission of admission application form will also be applicable.
  1. Admission Under Paid Seats Scheme:

Seats: 15% of the intake.

  1. Candidates willing to take admission under Paid Seats Scheme are required to fill up their options at the time of Groups Discussion & Interview.
  2. Admission underpaid seats will be made after completion of regular seat admissions. A separate merit list will be drawn from the remaining candidates who are willing to be considered for admission under the Paid Seat Scheme as per option submitted by the candidates at the time of Group Discussion and Interview.
  • The candidates will be required to pay annual Paid Seat fee of Rs. 1,50,000/- through Demand Draft (in favor of the Registrar, Banaras Hindu University, payable at Varanasi) as the first installment at the time of provisional admission.

Please note that the Admit Card will be issued only after the receipt of the Demand Draft of Rs. 1,50,000/-.

The second installment of Rs. 1,50,000/- through Demand Draft (in favor of the Registrar, Banaras Hindu University, payable at Varanasi) will have to be paid before commencement of third-semester classes, failing which the student will not be registered as a regular student in the third-semester classes.

  1. In addition to the above fee, such candidates are also required to pay a regular fee (as detailed under Point 5 at Page 7) in cash / through Credit / Debit Card at the Fee Counter of the University.
  2. The Demand Draft of Rs. 1,50,000/- will have to be deposited in the Institute at the time of provisional admission.
  3. Admission of Foreign Nationals to MBA and MBA-IB Program (details are given at point no. 8 at page no. 8 & 9)
