The CLAT 2024 counselling is conducted online through the Consortium of NLUs’ official website, consortiumofnlus.ac. Scheduled from December 11 to December 20, 2023, this process requires shortlisted candidates to engage in selecting, revising, or withdrawing their choices for seat allotment before the stipulated deadline. Candidates opting to accept seats or apply for upgrades must remit a confirmation fee to secure their allotted seats. Typically, the CLAT 2024 admission process is anticipated to encompass five rounds of counselling, following trends observed in previous years.

The CLAT 2024 counselling process is entirely conducted online, encompassing registration, publication of the merit list, and subsequent seat allotment based on candidates’ preferences. Participants have the flexibility to accept, upgrade, or withdraw from their allotted seats across any round of counselling. Upon seat allocation, candidates can finalize their admission by remitting the necessary counselling and admission fees. In the preceding CLAT 2023, the counselling process unfolded across five rounds. CLAT 2024 Counseling Process – Started

The counselling process for CLAT 2024 will be facilitated through a centralized online system. Candidates falling under the general category are required to pay a fee of Rs 30,000, while those from reserved categories need to remit Rs 20,000 for CLAT counselling registration. It’s essential to note that the CLAT admission procedure is distinct for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs. Following each round of CLAT counselling, the consortium will release the seat allotment details for all participating National Law Universities (NLUs) involved in the admission process.

The CLAT Committee offers an indicative seta distribution per the CLAT merit list and NLU’s choices provided by the student at the time of application form. When you finish each seat distribution, another indicative list is to be declared by CLAT 2024. 

Prospective candidates aiming to participate in CLAT 2024 were mandated to indicate their preferences for National Law Universities (NLUs) during the application form submission. The Common Law Admission Test was administered by the Consortium on December 3, 2023.

How to Check CLAT 2024 Counselling and Seat Allotment Result?

Candidates can track their CLAT seat allotment results by following these steps:

• Visit the official CLAT website: https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in
• Enter your registered mobile number and password.
• Click on the “Login” option.
• Access the seat allotment result.

Please note: For Undergraduate (UG) courses, there are 3,213 available seats, whereas for Postgraduate (PG) courses, there are 1,217 seats. Successful candidates from CLAT 2024 will progress to subsequent admission rounds after they complete counselling registration and fulfil eligibility criteria.

Adding NLUs Preferences for CLAT 2024

Including NLU preferences holds significant importance in the CLAT counselling process for 2024. Candidates are required to specify their preferences for NLUs while completing the CLAT 2024 application form. It’s crucial to note that admission consideration will solely apply to the NLUs selected as preferences during the stipulated period. Candidates won’t be eligible for admission in any NLU not listed as a preference. To participate, candidates need to add a minimum of five NLU preferences through their CLAT account, with no maximum limit specified for the number of preferences they can add.

CLAT 2024 Counselling Process

The CLAT 2024 counselling process spans multiple rounds and involves several stages. The initial step in this process is registering for counselling, which begins following the announcement of the CLAT 2024 results.

• Declaration of Result: The CLAT 2024 counselling begins after the announcement of the CLAT result. Only shortlisted candidates featured in the invite list are eligible to partake in the process.
• Registration: Candidates must register for counselling by furnishing their basic details, educational qualifications, and other pertinent information.
• Payment of Counselling Fee: Successful completion of CLAT 2024 counselling registration necessitates candidates to remit the counselling fee. General category candidates are required to pay Rs. 30,000, while SC/ST candidates need to remit Rs. 20,000.
• Seat Allotment: Based on candidates’ ranks and their indicated choices, the CLAT seat allotment process is executed, occurring in multiple rounds.
• Admission Fee Payment: Following document verification, candidates are obligated to pay the admission fee to confirm their admission offer.

As stated earlier, the commencement of CLAT 2024 registration is scheduled to start from December 12. The registration for CLAT counselling in 2024 is conducted online. Candidates who have taken the CLAT exam are required to register via the Consortium of NLUs’ official website. Below are the steps outlining the procedure for completing CLAT counselling registration.

• Accessing CLAT Account: To initiate registration for CLAT counselling, candidates must log into their respective CLAT accounts via the official website – consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
• Payment for Counselling: Once logged in, candidates are required to navigate to the “Make Payment” section to remit the CLAT counselling registration fee. General category candidates must pay Rs. 30,000, while SC/ST candidates need to remit Rs. 20,000.
• Providing Details: Applicants must enter their essential personal information, educational qualifications, and other pertinent details as part of the registration process.
• Application Form Download: Upon successful completion of registration, candidates should download the application form for future reference.

CLAT Counselling 2024 – Seat Allocation Process

During the CLAT 2024 seat allotment process, candidates who have completed the counselling registration will be eligible for seat allocation. The following outlines the seat allocation procedure:

Allocation based on Rank and Preferences:

• Candidates are assigned an NLU seat based on their rank and the preferences of NLUs they’ve indicated.

Acceptance of Seat:

• Upon allocation, candidates have the choice to accept the seat and proceed with the admission process by paying the admission fee for the respective NLU.

Option for Upgrade:

• Candidates can opt for an upgrade, allowing the chance to secure a seat at an NLU higher on their preference list while retaining the initially allotted seat.

Exit Option:

• Candidates also have the option to exit from the CLAT seat allotment process if they choose not to proceed further with the offered seat.

What are Freeze, Float and Exit options in CLAT 2024 counselling?

During CLAT counselling, candidates are presented with three choices: Freeze, Float, and Exit, each serving specific purposes:

• Freeze Option: Candidates content with the allocated seat and not wishing to partake in subsequent rounds can choose this. Selecting ‘Freeze’ confirms the seat at the National Law University (NLU) and exempts the candidate from further counselling rounds.
• Float Option: If dissatisfied with the current seat but willing to participate in later rounds for a better seat, candidates may choose ‘Float.’ This option allows acceptance of the present seat while expressing interest in future counselling rounds. If allotted a subsequent seat, the earlier one gets forfeited.
• Exit Option: Candidates no longer wanting to continue with the counselling process can select ‘Exit.’ This withdrawal option removes them from further consideration in the counselling rounds.

Documents Required for CLAT 2024 Counselling Procedure

The documents required during CLAT counselling include:

• 10th or equivalent mark sheet
• 12th or equivalent mark sheet
• Graduation certificate (specifically for CLAT PG counselling)
• Character certificate
• Transfer / Migration Certificate
• Caste Certificate (if applicable for SC/ST/OBC etc.)
• PWD Certificate (if applicable for Persons with Disabilities)
• Domicile/residence certificate (if applying under the domicile category)

NLU Admission Process after CLAT Seat Allotment 2024

Following the CLAT seat allotment, candidates proceed with the NLU admission process, which generally involves these steps:

• Payment of Admission Fee: Candidates allotted seats in NLUs must remit the admission fee for confirmation, with variations in fee amounts and payment modes across different NLUs.
• Document Verification: Submission of original documents for verification at the respective NLU. Documents typically include CLAT scorecard, admit card, class 10th and 12th mark sheets, category certificate (if applicable), and other relevant documents.
• Seat Confirmation: Post document verification, candidates confirm their seats by submitting required documents and settling the balance fee (if applicable).
• Orientation and Induction Program: NLUs organize an orientation and induction program for newly admitted students. This program offers an overview of the academic curriculum, regulations, and essential information to acquaint them with the institution.

CLAT 2024 Counselling Fee Refund

Candidates participating in CLAT counselling 2024 and not securing any allotted seat will be eligible for a 100% fee refund. Similarly, candidates who were allotted seats but opted out of counselling after rejecting the allotment will also receive a refund; however, deductions will be applied to the refund amount.

Additionally, if candidates are deemed ineligible for admission, they will receive a refund after certain deductions.

• Candidates not allotted any seat during the counselling process are entitled to a 100% fee refund.
• Those who were allocated seats but exited the counselling after rejecting the allotment will also receive a refund, albeit with deductions from the refunded amount.
• In the event of candidates being found ineligible for admission, they will receive a refund after deductions
