The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is the national level entrance examination, which is organized by the NTA is a statutory body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India to get admission into management programs.

The Test will now be conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency). The CMAT is a three-hour computer-based online test which is conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate’s ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and General Awareness.

The NTA has reduced the burden of students attending multiple examinations has launched the first national-level Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). First of all, candidates will get detailed information about CMAT Eligibility Criteria.

CMAT Eligibility Criteria 2021

The applicants must have to check their eligibility criteria before filling the application form and the eligibility criteria of various programs have mentioned below.

  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • Graduates in any discipline can apply for CMAT Exam.
  • Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for the academic year 2021-21 can also apply for CMAT online exam.
  • Nationality: As per CMAT Eligibility criteria applicants must be a citizen of India.
  • Age limit: There is no age limit for applying to CMAT 2021
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree under a 10+ 2+3 system can apply. Even the final year graduation candidates provided their result has been declared before admission.
Programs Duration CMAT Eligibility Criteria
MBA & PGDM 2 years Candidates must have a valid graduation degree (10+2+3) with at least 50 % for general and OBC categories while that for SC/ST it is 45%
PGCM More than 1 year but less than 2-year Candidates have a Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 system
Executive PGDM 15 month Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) with 50 % for General and OBC candidates while that for SC/ST it is 45%. Candidates must have 5 years of managerial or supervisory experience.

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for the academic year 2021-21 can also apply for CMAT 2021 computer-based test (CBT).

For admission to a participating institute, please see the reservations applicable to that particular institute. In the case of institutes run by the Central Government.

  • 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste (SC).
  • 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe (ST).
  • 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the “ Non Creamy layer” (OBC-NCL).
  • Each category will have 5% reservations for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as defined in The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016).

Other Backward Classes – Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) are as per the Central list of Other Backward Classes available on the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Government of India website www.ncbc.nic..in Thus, the candidates falling in this list may mention OBC in the Category Column. State list OBC Candidates who are not in OBC-NCL (Central List) must choose General.

Persons with disabilities (PwD) means a person with not less than forty percent (40%) of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with a disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority. “Specified Disability” means the disabilities as specified in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016.

The Categories of Disabilities are

  • Blindness and low vision
  • Deaf and hard of hearing
  • Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy
  • Autism, intellectual disability, specified learning disability, and mental illness, and
  • Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (i) to (iv)
  • Other ‘specified disabilities’ mentioned in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016.

No change in the category will be entertained after the last date of the CMAT-2021 Application form and no subsequent changes will be effective for CMAT Score 2021.

Please refer to Office Memorandum issued by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment dated 29 August 2018 (F.No.34-02/2015-DD-III), guideline IV, second paragraph.

In case of persons with benchmark disabilities in the category of blindness, locomotor disability (both arm affected-BA) and cerebral palsy, the facility of scribe/reader/lab assistant shall be given, if so desired by the person.

The candidates who require scribe/reader as per above will have to submit the request in writing to the Centre Superintendent for the same along with a disability certificate issued by the authorized Medical Officer at least one week before the examination date.

The Centre Superintendent will identify the scribe/ reader from the students who are studying one class lower. In case a request is received from the candidate, he/she would be allowed to meet the scribe a day before the examination to verify the suitability of the scribe.

One hour compensatory time will also be allowed to the candidates who are availing the facility of scribe/reader.

Subject Specific Eligibility Norms

These are the specific subject requirement to get admission in the given particular course.

M.B.A/P.G.D.M:

  • The candidate must have completed a bachelor’s degree recognized by state/central government.
  • The bachelor’s degree must be of a minimum 3-year duration.
  • The candidate must have secured at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST candidates) in the bachelor’s degree.

Executive P.G.D.M:

  • The candidate must have completed a bachelor’s degree recognized by state/central government.
  • The bachelor’s degree must be of a minimum 3-year duration.
  • The candidate must have at least 5 years of work experience.
  • The candidate must have secured at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST candidates) in the bachelor’s degree.

P.G.C.M:

  • The candidate must have completed a bachelor’s degree recognized by state/central government.
  • The bachelor’s degree must be of a minimum 3-year duration.
  • The candidate must have secured at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST candidates) in the bachelor’s degree.

There are 4 marks for each Correct Answer. There shall be negative marking for wrong answers, for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted.

At the test center, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with rough papers for calculations and a Pen/Pencil. After the test, the candidate must leave the rough papers at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the examination room/hall.

Candidates are NOT allowed to carry Instrument/Geometry/Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, Any kind of Paper/ Stationery/Textual material (printed or written material), Eatables and Water (loose or packed), Mobile Phone/ Ear Phone/Microphone/Pager, Calculator, Camera, Tape Recorder, any metallic item or electronic gadgets, etc. in the Examination Room/ Hall.

Diabetic students will be allowed to carry eatables like sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) and transparent water bottle to the examination hall. However, they will not be allowed to carry packed foods like chocolate/candy/sandwich, etc.
