The Government of Tamil Nadu was set up by the Periyar University at Salem on 17th September 1997 in accordance with the provisions of the Periyar University Act, 1997. The University occupies an area comprising four districts with other words Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri & Krishnagiri. The University got the 12(B) and 2f state from the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, and consequently reaccredited by the NAAC with “A” grade in 2015. The University took 68th ranked among Indian Universities according to the MHRD NIRF 2024.

The University was named after the Great Social Reformer E.V. Ramasamy, affectionally called “ThanthaiPeriyar”. The University wants them to develop knowledge in various fields to realize the maxim enrolled in the logo “ArivalVilayumUlagu” (Wisdom Maketh the World). “Holistic development of the students” is the primary objective of the prestigious Periyar University. Periyar University conveys higher education through three modes, viz., thanks to its Departments of Study and Research, affiliated with the Colleges and Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE). The University has 28 divisions and 101 affiliated colleges.

The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was introduced to various programs offered by the University from 2008-09 onwards. From 2009-10 beginning the year the University has provided certificate courses in order to cater to the present needs of the public. Periyar University provides the Student Support Services of the Library, National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross, Women’s Welfare Centre, and avenues for sports and games.

Periyar University 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Before completing the application form, the candidates will need to verify their eligibility for Periyar University 2024.

• For B.A. Economics
  • Candidates for access to the first year of the UG degree program shall be required to have passed the higher secondary examination (Academic or Vocational) conducted by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu or other examinations adopted as the equivalent
• For B.B.A. (International Business)
  • Anyone of the subjects must be educated at the +2 level Accountancy/ 13 B.B.A (RETAIL Commerce/ Mathematics/ Business Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science.
• For B.COM. (Computer Application)
  • Anyone of the subjects must be educated at the +2 level Accountancy/ Commerce/ Mathematics/ Business Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science.
• For B.Sc. Biochemistry
  • A pass in +2 with Chemistry as a compulsory subject and educated Botany and Zoology or Biology in the +2 exam.
• For M.B.A
  • Candidates for admission to the first year of the Master of Business Administration full-time degree program are obligated to possess a Bachelor’s Degree of any Recognized University.
• For M.A. Economics
  • A Candidate who has succeeded B.A., Economics or B. Com., or B.B.M., or B.B.A., or B.Sc., (Maths) B.A (Sociology) or B.A., Women Studies degree examination of Periyar University or an examination
• For M.Com
  • Pass in B.Com, B.Com (CA), B.Com (e-com), B.B.A, B.B.M, BBA/BBM (CA), B.COM (Corporate Secretaryship), B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship) along with CA, BCS, BCS (CA), B.A (Corporate Secretaryship), B.A (Corporate Secretaryship) along with CA, B.Sc (Computer Science), BCA and B.Com (Co-operation).
• For M.C.A
  • Candidates who have succeeded in any one of the following or equivalent can apply for: i) Bachelor’s degree (under 10+2+3/4) in any topic with Mathematics at +2 level. ii) Bachelor’s degree (within the framework 10+2+3/4 or 10+3 year Diploma + 3 years later entry BE) in any topic with Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Statistics for being one of the subjects.

The result for December 2024 theory UG/ PG courses exam has been released at the moment. Candidates can check the result on the official website of the University. No result would be sent to candidates by post or any other means.
