The first vice-chancellor of this university is Vishnudeo Narayan Singh. Ranchi University Annual Theory Examination will be held from March to July for various degrees, i.e., for undergraduates /postgraduates courses. UG’s 1st-year exam will be held in one week of July, and the 2nd-year exam will be held in the 2^nd week of May, and UG’s 3^rd exam will be held in the 1^st  week of April.

Post-graduation(PG) examination for 2^nd and 4th-semester exam will be held on  3^rd week of June and 1^st and 3rd-semester exam will be held on 1^st week of March.
