IIST 2020IIST 2020 UG Admission 14th Round Seat Allotment/Seat Acceptance has been started on 7th November 2020. The PG Admission Allotment List has been released on 7th August 2020. Candidates Shortlist has been Released for PG Course, the Admission (Interview) will be done through video Conference. IIST stands for Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, IIST offer undergraduate (B.Tech), masters (M.Tech), and Ph.D. programs in space science and technology.

There are three different courses in BTech are as follow, BTech in Aerospace, Avionics, and Physical Science. The admission will be based on various national level examinations such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE, JEST, etc.

The eligible registered candidates who are desirous of getting admission in IIST have to be physically present during the counseling at any of the centers, with all the original documents/certificates and must be accompanied by one of the parents. IIST 2020 Counseling 

Only candidates who have applied online through the online application portal admission.iist.ac.in for undergraduate admission to IIST and made the payment in the Bank and uploaded the payment details and scanned image of challan [DD for NRI candidates] before the specified dates will be considered for admission to IIST.

These candidates will be ranked by IIST for all categories. The IIST admission rank list and the date/venues for the admission counseling will be published on the official website of IIST.

It is tentatively planned to conduct IIST Admission Counseling in four cities [Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, New Delhi]. During the counseling, the candidates will have to give their preference/choice [s] of the branch of study in their order of preference in writing, which CANNOT be changed later.

IIST 2020 Admission Procedure

During the counseling, [confirmed Seat] will be allotted to the eligible candidates in the order of their JEE Main All India Rank. Those who accept a [confirmed seat] offered to them should surrender their original certificates at the counseling center. If the confirmed seat is not his/or first preference/choice, he will also be given a wait-list number for his higher preferred branch.

After filling all the available seats, the remaining candidates who reported at the counseling venue will find their names included in the ‘Wait-List’ in their respective category and choice of branch. This Wait-List will be published online on the IIST admissions website, within two days after the counseling.

The vacancies arising subsequently due to any forfeiture of the allotted confirmed seats will be filled by operating the above Wait-List at regular intervals and notifying the same in the IIST Admission website. More dates/details of this process of wait-list movement will be announced at the time of publication of the IIST Admission rank list on 29th June of the current year.

During the wait-list movement, if a candidate does not accept [within the specified time interval] any confirmed seat offered to him/her in a branch of his / her any preference/choice made at the time of counseling, he/she will NOT be considered further for admission to any branch/seat.

IIST 2020 Cut Off has been released on 21st June 2020. Cut off has been published through online mode. There are two types of cut off, i.e. eligibility cut off and admission cut off.

IIST Counselling Procedure 2020

The IIST Council will be organized offline in the centers designated by the authority. Without a valid photo identification, applicants will not be able to enter the orientation center. Candidates must appear in person at one of the counseling centers on Council Day.
Applicants must bring their original certificates of the required documents. If it is determined that the candidate meets the requirements in all respects, only then will they be allowed to complete the elections. Applicants must complete their choices/preferences of programs.

Completed options cannot be changed later. Candidates are invited to attend their counsel according to the prescribed schedule. After the last council, no candidate will be admitted.

Reservation Seats

As per the reservation policy of the Government of India applicable to Central Educational Institutions [CEI], Applicants belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. These categories and the corresponding percentage of reservation are as follow:-

  • Scheduled Castes [SC] : 15%
  • Scheduled Tribes [ST] : 7.5%
  • Other Backward Classes [OBC] belonging to Non-Creamy Layer [NCL]: 27%
  • Persons with Disabilities [PD] : 3% [Horizontal Reservation

The benefit of reservation under SC/ST/OBC shall be given only to those castes/tribes which are recognized by the Government of India and are included in the respective central list published by the Department of Personnel and Training.

Scheduled Castes [SC]/Schedule tribes [ST] Candidates

Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes [SC] / Schedule tribes [ST] categories will be required to produce the original Scheduled caste/ tribe certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format. Certificates in any other format will not be accepted. The documents [in original], must be produced at the time of Counseling, failing which their candidature will not be considered for admission. Seats remaining vacant in SC/ST categories shall be left vacant and shall NOT be filled by candidates belonging to any other category.

OBC-NCL Candidates

For admission to seats under the OBC-NCL category, a candidate will be considered as OBC-NCL only if he/she belongs to a caste mentioned in the Central list of OBCs and satisfies the condition of the non-creamy layer as defined by the Government of India.

In case any of the reserved seats in this category are not filled for want of sufficient candidates meeting the qualifying standards set by the Institute, such seats can be allotted to General candidates.

The OBC-NCL candidates seeking the benefits of the reservation will be required to produce the original caste certificate by a competent authority in the prescribed format. Certificates in any other format will not be accepted. The certificate must be produced at the time of Counseling, failing which they will NOT be considered for admission in the OBC-NCL reserved category.

Persons with Disabilities [PD] Candidates

3% of seats are reserved for PD candidates. The benefit of reservation would be given only to those who have at least 40% physical impairment and required to produce original certificates issued by a district medical board/competent authority, at the time of counseling.

Documents required at the time of Counselling/Admission Candidates have to bring these given below documents in original along with one set of the photocopy on the day of counseling.
