The NID (National Institute of Design) has organized the national-level entrance examination for the candidates. The entrance test is the NID DAT (Design Aptitude Test), which is conducted to offer admission to the candidates in Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD), and Master of Design (M.Des) programs.
Per the marks obtained in the NID DAT Examination, the NID Admission will be provided to the candidates in various designing programs.

NID Exam Pattern 2024
Those students who have applied for the NID DAT 2024 must prefer the exam pattern for better preparation. Applicants will be able to know the complete structure of the question paper with the help of an exam pattern. Exam patterns may include several questions and types of questions.
For candidates applying in only one discipline of the M.Des Programme:
The Candidates must appear in DAT Prelims comprising of the CDAT [Common Design Aptitude Test] and discipline-specific test of the discipline selected by them. The total duration of the DAT Prelim will be 2.5 hrs.
For candidates applying in two disciplines of the M.Des. Program:
The candidates must appear in DAT Prelims comprising the CDAT [Common Design Aptitude Test] and TWO discipline-specific tests. The total duration of the DAT Prelim will be 4.5 hrs. (30 minutes for CDAT and two hrs. each for the discipline-specific test).
About DAT Prelims
The B.Des/GDPD DAT Prelims Paper will Consist of an Examination of 3 Hours Duration and 100 marks. The Test will be held on Paper and Pencil/Pen Test, Conducted at the Same Time on the same day across all test centres.

Part I of NID DAT 2024
- According to the exam pattern of NID DAT 2024 for the preliminary exam, candidates must answer multiple-choice questions in the first part.
- Students should have to select one or more correct answers
- Candidates will have to mark the responses in the OMR sheet
- Part I will have 64 questions, which will total 70 points.
- The responses marked in the answer sheet will be checked digitally.
Part II of NID DAT 2024
- Per the NID DAT exam pattern 2024, part II of the entrance exam will comprise three subjective questions.
- In this part of the examination, applicants must fill in all the answers.
