GATE COAP 2024: Registration (Started), Important Dates, Allotment, Admission Procedure

GATE COAP 2024 Online Registration has been started on 19th March 2024. The fourth round of allocations due to COAP is acknowledged through the entrant’s access in June. Contenders who have opted for M.Tech at several IITs can enrol for GATE COAP 2024 from April to June. The IITs have initiated the GATE Common Offer Acceptance Portal, known as COAP in 2017 to simplify students who have registered for the M.Tech admissions.

As candidates must apply for the respective IITs, the admission proffers will frequently be accessible through GATE COAP. In the recent course, all M.Tech applicants must register for GATE COAP by their GATE scores after applying to the IITs of their choice.

After receipt of the admission proffers from the contributing IITs, contenders must authorize the admission scheme of the IIT which they pick to agree to take through GATE COAP 2024.  Candidates may assume that GATE COAP 2024 is not an M.Tech Application gateway.

Important Dates of GATE COAP 2024

Tentative schedule for Additional Rounds of offers

• Round 1-4 of the main rounds, Candidates have all three options to select. However, candidates cannot choose to Retain & Wait more than twice on a specific offer.
  * No, if you have already used Retain & Wait on the same offer twice. The same offer refers to the program “XYZ” of a particular Institute “ABC”.
  Round 5 is a Decisive Round. Therefore, the candidates will have only the ‘Accept and Freeze’ and ‘Reject’ options to select.
• Additional Rounds A, B, C, D, and E are independent rounds, each treated like a Decisive Round. The candidates will have only the ‘Accept and Freeze’ and ‘Reject’ options in these rounds.

  A few more Additional/ Spot Rounds may be announced if any vacant seats exist.

GATE COAP 2024 Participating Institutes

The list of participating IITs in GATE COAP 2024 will be proclaimed via IIT Bombay which is co-ordinating COAP. There remain 21 IITs in the list, which is agreed below for the suggestions of the candidates.

What is COAP

GATE COAP Eligibility Criteria 2024

• Entrants have to be Indian Citizens.
• The contender must have qualified in GATE 2020, 2021, or 2024. They will be required to produce a GATE 2024/2021/2020 scorecard.
• They have to get to know the detailed eligibility norms of the IITs where they have opted for M.Tech admissions.
• Contenders who have done their B.Tech from an IIT with a minimum of 8.0 CGPA and above will be suitable for straight admissions and should not register at GATE COAP.
• Other contenders from IITs with under 8 CGPA must have seemed for GATE and joined the IITs before applying to COAP.
• Contenders who have over one binding GATE score are counselled to apply with the highest GATE score.
• But during registration, contenders must contain all other GATE scores uncertainty any of the last three years. Failing to do so will bring about ineligibility.

GATE COAP 2024 Registration Procedure

Registration at COAP: Contenders must submit their Name, GATE Registration number, GATE score, Date of birth, Email ID, and Mobile number.

Entrants will be referred to an Email/SMS after registration which they must use to legalize and use the given login ID to access the GATE COAP 2024 gateway. The SMS will encompass the details of the password. It will be essential to enter additional GATE scores if any. Afterwards, they must defer to the details.

After positive registration, contenders will be able to retrieve information on suggestions made by the IITs where they have joined. All proffers are provided and labeled with the COAP registration number which is similar to the GATE registration number lacking subject code.

Admission Offers through GATE COAP 2024

The primary set of proffers will be from May 2024. Contenders will be enlightened via Email/SMS. The proposals will also be shown on the online gateway.

Options after an admission offer are made through GATE COAP 2024

Accept and Freeze:

Once contenders are keen to accept the offer suggestions will be counted for elevation to higher first choices in the subsequent rounds. Such candidates must choose this option and go to a particular IIT Admission Portal to approve their admission.

Retain and Wait:

This option is for candidates who are receiving one of the current offers but will be contemplated for advancement to their higher preferences, if any, in the subsequent round of proposals. Contenders selecting this choice will not be considered for any rejected suggestions in the current series.

Reject and Wait:

Applicants ought to choose this choice if they are not enthusiastic to take any of the offers. Such contenders are given thought for other advanced preferences, if any, in the succeeding round (s) of admission proffered by any IIT.
