Answer: You can appear for GATE 2024 but must choose your GATE paper carefully.
Question: I passed in 2024, but I have a backlog. Can I apply for GATE 2024?
Answer: You can apply for GATE 2024 using the marks sheet for the final semesters (anyone) of your B.Tech. However, you must clear your backlog by August 2024 to avail of admissions to M.Tech.
Question: I passed my degree in 2024. I don’t have my Degree Certificate but a Provisional Certificate. Will that be enough?
Answer: Yes, that would be enough. As per the eligibility criteria of GATE 2024, you need any of the following documents while applying for GATE 2024 – degree certificate/ provisional certificate/ course completion certificate/ professional certificate/ membership certificate issued by the society or institute; you have completed your last education.
Question: I have completed my B.Tech with 50%. Am I Eligible for GATE 2024?
Answer: There are no specific pass percentage criteria to appear for the GATE 2024 Exam. The pass percentage matter during M. Tech admissions, as some IITs, ask for 60% and above, while some don’t. IISc Bangalore, for instance, allows candidates with a second class in their graduation to apply for M.Tech provided they have valid GATE Scores. Most PSUs ask for 60% and above.
Question: Please tell me how many times I can appear for GATE. Is there any age limit?
Answer: You can appear for GATE as many times as you want; yes, there is no age limit.
Question: I have completed my graduation through distance learning. Do you think I can apply for GATE 2024?
Answer: Yes, you can very much apply for the GATE 2024 Exam. Please make sure that the course based on which you are applying must be recognized by AICTE.
Question: I am a Postgraduate. Can I appear for GATE 2024? What are the documents I need to upload while applying?
Answer: In your case, you must upload the documents related to the relevant qualifying degree while filling out the Application form.
Question: I passed out in 2024, but I have a backlog. Can I apply for GATE 2024?
Answer: No, you can’t apply for GATE 2024. It is advisable to clear the backlog and then apply next year for GATE 2024.
Question: I belong to the OBC category and therefore want to upload my category certificate, but I can’t find any option to upload the certificate. What to do?
Answer: A category certificate for the OBC candidates is unnecessary while applying for GATE 2024. The category certificate is used to ascertain the concession the Application fee offers. The OBC certificate would be needed while taking admission using GATE Scores.
Question: I graduated in 2024 but didn’t have my degree or provisional certificate. What document should I upload to prove my eligibility for GATE 2024?

Question: How to apply online for the Application form?
Answer: You have to register yourself first at GOAPS, and then you can apply for the GATE Application Form 2024.
Question: For how many GATE papers can I apply?
Answer: You can apply for only one paper out of the 25 for GATE 2024. However, you are expected to appear in a paper appropriate to the discipline of your qualifying degree. You are free to choose any paper according to your admission plans, keeping in mind the Eligibility criteria of the institutions to which you wish to take admission.
Question: Can I use one email address to complete multiple Application forms?
Answer: No, you certainly can’t. One email address can be used to submit only one Application form.
Question: I cannot upload my signature, despite many trials. I followed all the instructions and criteria specified. How do I do?
Answer: You need to check the format you are trying to upload. Also, check the size. Please do not resize the file.
Question: How to know if my photograph is acceptable or not?
Answer: If the photo you uploaded is not accepted, you will get an email or SMS. Following that, you can correct the photograph and other details. Please do not resize the file.
GATE FAQs on Exam Centres and Zonal Centres
Question: What are GATE zonal centres, and how will I know about mine?
Answer: The zonal centres of GATE 2024 are the IITs responsible for coordinating with IIT Delhi for each region as specified. The GATE 2024 zonal centre will be the IIT under which your exam centre will be listed. You can reach your zonal IIT for any queries and concerns related to Admit card or Application form.
Question: Why should I choose three examination cities while filling out the GATE Application form?
Answer: A candidate will most likely be allotted a centre in the examination city of their first choice. In cases where there would be too many candidates opting for a specific town as their first choice, the other two options will be relevant.
While filling out the choices of cities, you must remember that because of operational constraints, the GATE 2024 committee reserves all the right to add a new city or remove an existing one and allow a town that may not be any of your choices. Candidates opting for international centres will have only one choice (by default).

Question: Can I change my mobile No or Email ID after I have submitted my GATE 2024 Application Form?
Answer: No, you can’t.
Question: I made some mistakes while filling out the Application for GATE 2024. How to correct them?
Answer: You can change the following in your GATE Application form – Name, date of birth, the name of parent/ guardian, qualifying degree, and year of qualifying degree. You must send a request mail from your email registered with GOAPS to your respective zonal GATE office, as mentioned in the application form. You will have to mention your Enrollment ID and the nature of corrections to be done, attaching the scanned copy of the proof in the email.
Question: Can I change my GATE 2024 Exam City after submission of my GATE 2024 Application Form?
Answer: Yes. You can request a change of examination city till November 2024, with an additional fee to be paid online using GOAPS.
Question: I have selected the wrong paper, e.g., I have chosen PH in my GATE Application and wanted to write PE. What should I do?
Answer: You need to fill out a new application with a new email address (the mobile number can be the same) and choose the correct paper for examination. Please note that no refund will be made for the wrong application.
Question: I want to change my category in my GATE Application Form. What should I do?
Answer: To change your category, log in to GOAPS and click “change personal data.” Change your class and verify the details before submitting it.
After you provide the necessary changes, you will be directed to pay the additional fee of Rs 750 in case of category change from SC/ ST to General/ OBC (not applicable to female and PwD candidates). The additional fee will be non-refundable; the last date to make changes and submit fees is October 2024.
Question: I want to change my gender in the GATE 2024 Application Form. What should I do?
Answer: To change the gender from Male/ other to Female, log in to GOAPS and click “change personal data.” Make the necessary changes and verify the data before submitting the modified details. After submission, you will be directed to pay the additional fee.
For gender change from female to male/ transgender (not applicable to SC/ ST & PwD category), the application fee is Rs 750, which is non-refundable. The last date to make changes and additional fee submissions is October 2024.
Question: My application status for GATE shows “Under Scrutiny.” What does it mean?
Answer: IIT Delhi will check the GATE Applications for discrepancies, photographs, or signature defects. If the status shows “Under Scrutiny,” it is okay. Once they check all the details, the status will be changed to “Successful Submission.”

Question: When will I receive my Admit Card?
Answer: You can download the Admit card of GATE 2024 from the GOAPS website from 5 to January 2024 onwards. Admit Cards will NOT be sent by post or as an email attachment to any candidate.
Question: My college address is blank on my GATE 2024 Admit Card.
Answer: You must mail your concern to your zonal IIT with a copy of the Admit card.
Question: My photograph is blurred in GATE Admit Card 2024. What should I do?
Answer: You immediately mail your concern to your zonal IIT with a copy of the Admit card.
Question: My signature is not visible in the signature box on the Admit card. What should I do?
Answer: You should call your IIT zonal centre. You will have to submit your Admit card along with the confirmation page.

Question: How will I be able to check my GATE 2024 Result?
Answer: You can check your GATE 2024 Result by using your registration ID or enrolment number of GATE and date of birth.
Question: How to obtain the Scorecard of GATE?
Answer: You can download the Scorecard of GATE through GOAPS from the 3rd week of March to the last week of May 2024. It would be best if you used your enrollment ID or email address, GOAPS password and captcha provided to view the Scorecard. You are advised to download it and take a printout of the same.
Question: What if I cannot access my GATE 2024 Scorecard?
Answer: If you cannot access your Scorecard, you must not have qualified for GATE 2024.
