CAT 2024 Application Form will be released in 1st week of August 2024. The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national examination by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) annually by rotation. Many IIM institutions believe that the CAT scorecard allows admission to MBA courses. The CAT (Common Admission Test) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. This exam provides admission to Postgraduate Management programs offered by the IIMs or top B-schools of India.

The CAT application process for 2024 will be open until the second week of September. Eligible candidates can access the registration form online on the official IIM CAT website, iimcat.ac.in. It is anticipated that over 3.5 lakh candidates will register for the CAT exam this year. Last year, out of the 3.28 lakh eligible candidates who registered, approximately 2.88 lakh appeared for the exam.

The CAT 2024 registration process offers candidates the opportunity to apply online through the official IIM CAT website, iimcat.ac.in. Below are the key details and requirements for registration.

CAT 2024 promises a series of key events, from registration to exam day, with tentative dates marking the crucial milestones in the application process and examination schedule.

CAT 2024 registration is set to commence in the first week of August 2024 and will be conducted online through the official IIM CAT website, iimcat.ac.in. The registration process will continue until the third week of September 2024.

In 2023, IIM Lucknow received a total of 3.30 lakh applications, marking a 30% increase compared to 2022 and representing the highest number of applications ever recorded since the inception of the CAT exam. Out of these, 3.28 lakh applications were deemed valid, and 2.88 lakh candidates appeared for the exam.

CAT 2024 Registration Fee

Application fees for CAT can only be submitted through online mode, and no offline payments will be accepted. Online fee payment options include debit cards, credit cards, net banking, and other online payment gateways. It’s important to note that once the fee is submitted, no refunds will be issued.

CAT 2024 Application Correction

During the CAT correction window, which is expected to open in the fourth week of September 2024, candidates will have the opportunity to make corrections to any incorrect details submitted during the application process. This correction window will be available exclusively in online mode, allowing candidates to rectify any errors made during the initial application submission.

Candidates must ensure that they correct any wrong details during the specified correction window, as failure to do so may result in their application being rejected, and they will not be permitted to sit for the exam. The correction facility will be available only for selected fields, and modifications will not be permitted for crucial information such as date of birth, email ID, state, or mobile number. Edit options will be provided for details such as test centre preferences, photographs, signatures, etc.

CAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for CAT 2024, candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria outlined by the conducting authority. These criteria include educational qualifications, age requirements, minimum mark thresholds, and provisions for final-year students awaiting results.

• Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized institute or college.
• Age Criteria: There is no prescribed age limit for application.
• Marks Criteria: Applicants should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (45% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories) in their qualifying exam.
• Appearing Candidates: Final-year students and those who have completed degree requirements but are awaiting results are also eligible to apply.

Step 1: Register for CAT 2024

To register online for the CAT exam, follow these steps:

• Visit the Official CAT Website: Open iimcat.ac.in.
• Access New Candidate Registration: Click ‘Register’ under ‘New Candidate Registration.’
• Fill in Personal Details: Enter name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, and nationality.
• Generate OTP: Click ‘Generate OTP’ to receive a one-time password on your mobile.
• Verify Registration: Enter the OTP received on your mobile to complete CAT 2024 registration.

Step 2: Filling up the CAT Application Form

After successfully verifying the registration, candidates will receive a user ID and password on their registered email ID and mobile number. To proceed with form filling, log in again using the provided CAT 2023 user ID and password.

After completing the payment of the CAT registration fee, candidates will receive a confirmation email and SMS on their registered mobile number. It’s crucial to keep this confirmation safe as it serves as proof of payment for CAT Exam 2024 registration.

If you forget the CAT Login ID?

If candidates forget their CAT login ID, they can retrieve it by following these steps:

• Click the “Forgot User ID/Password” button.
• Enter the registered email ID and captcha.
• The CAT user ID will be sent to the registered email address.

If Forgot CAT Login Password?

Similarly, if candidates forget their CAT login password, they can retrieve it as follows:

• Click the “Forgot User ID/Password” tab on the CAT 2024 official website.
• Enter the registered email ID and captcha.
• The new password will be sent to the candidate’s registered email address.

Note: Regenerated CAT login passwords will not be sent via SMS. If multiple passwords are received, candidates should use the password contained in the most recent email from IIM.

During CAT form filling, candidates can select up to six preferred test locations from a list of 155 cities. The opportunity to change the test city is provided only once during the form correction process after submission. Hence, candidates must choose their CAT test cities carefully.

• Login to Your Account: Click on the ‘login’ tab and enter your User ID and password to access your account.
• Access Application Form: Navigate to the Application Form section after logging in.
• Navigate to Relevant Section: Identify the section requiring corrections, such as photo, signature, or test city preference.
• Make Corrections: Click on the relevant section and make the necessary changes to your photo, signature, or test city preference.
• Enter CAPTCHA Code: Enter the CAPTCHA code provided to verify your identity.
• Complete the Process: After making the corrections, click ‘continue’ to finalize the correction process.

What After CAT Registration 2024?

After the closure of the CAT 2024 registration window, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) is expected to issue CAT admit cards, likely in the first week of November, on the official CAT website – iimcat.ac.in. Candidates will have the opportunity to download their CAT admit cards until the day of the examination. To access their CAT admit cards, registered candidates must log in using their CAT login details. It is essential to carry the IIM CAT admit card on the day of the examination.
