International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2020: Application Form, Dates, Eligibility, Pattern

The official authorities will be organizing the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) in two levels (level 1 and level 2). The applicants who are studying in class 1 to 12 have to appear for the level 1 initially. Then the applicants who will qualify the level 1 will have to apply for level 2 (except the students of class 1 and 2). So level 2 will be conducted for only those students who are studying in class 3 to 12th

International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2020 Application Process

  • The official authorities of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) have decided that there will be no personal application forms of the individual participation of the applicants in any other mode. 
  • The respective school will receive complete information about the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) along with the prospective, registration forms, posters, and other details. 
  • The applicants who want to apply for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) needs to collect the details from their respective teachers of the school. 
  • However, applicants can also get the details from the Foundations official website (www.sofworld.org)
  • The applicants who want to apply for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) needs to collect the forms from the school and fill it. 
  • Then the duly filled application forms need to be submitted back to their respective school itself. 
  • It is the duty of the school to submit the forms of the applicant to the SOF before the due date.

International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2020 Eligibility Criteria are as stated below. 

  • Nationality: The one applying for the IMO should be Indian national. 
  • Internationality: Applicants from abroad are also eligible to apply. 
  • Qualification: The applicant from class 1 to 12 are eligible to apply. 
  • Subject: Mathematics is the mandatory subject in which the applicant should have an interest.
    • Level 1: The applicants who meet the qualification criteria will be eligible to apply for Level 1. 
    • Level 2: The applicant who will qualify the Level 1 will only be eligible to apply for Level 2.

Note: The applicant of class 1 and 2 need not require to apply for the Level 2 exam as they will be a judge on the basis of their performance in level 1.

International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2020 Exam Pattern

  • A number of questions: 35 questions (class 1 to 4) and 50 questions (class 5 to 12).

Note

    • At International Level: Top 5 % applicants (class wise) who had appeared for Level 1.
    • At Zone/State Level: Top 25 rank holders (each class)
    • At School level: Class Topper. 

International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2020 Exam Syllabus

There is no specific syllabus for the preparation of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2020 Exam. However, the applicant can prepare from their respective class subjects as provided by the government for the preparation of the exam.
