Gauhati University will announce the notification of Gauhati University B.Ed. Common Entrance Test (GU B.EdCET-2023) for admission to the B.Ed course in the B.Ed colleges affiliated to Gauhati University and acknowledged NCTE for the academic year 2023-24. Reservation and slackening policy will be following the existing GU rules.

Gauhati University B.Ed 2023 Application Process

Gauhati University B.Ed. Common Entrance Test (GU B.EdCET) for B.Ed. Course, 2023-24 is planned in June 2023.

• The online application form has been received from 23rd October to 8th November 2023.
• Interested students are directed to visit the Gauhati University website www.Gauhati.ac.in from time to time for updates in kin to this test.
• The university authority at the proper level will resolve anything not covered by this standard.
• Contenders are directed to denote to official notifications /documents for detailed application procedure; filling up of application forms for the entrance, topic of challan for the deposit of the entrance fee and the issue of admit cards will be carried out in the online method only; as such hard copy application form will not be received
• One applicant can apply to not higher than three colleges and he/she needs to submit only one form

Eligibility Criteria for Gauhati University B.Ed

• A candidate may be allowed to appear in the GU B.EdCET-2023 provided that he/she has passed the B.A/ B.Sc/B.Com or M.A/ M.Sc/ M.Com or equivalent degree program form a recognized board/ University with at least 50% marks (or 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD).

Gauhati University B.Ed Exam Pattern

Total questions in the GU B.EdCET-2023: 100

Duration of the GU B.EdCET-2023: 2 hours 30 minutes

The entrance test will be consist of 100 questions that carry 400 marks of two hours thirty minutes duration. All questions are mandatory and are of MCQ type with four alternative options of which only one answer will be the right option.

The test Booklet and the OMR will be in English. There will be 4 marks for the correct answer and (-1) for all the wrong answers. No negative marks for unanswered questions

Syllabus and Marks:

Section-A: General English (Vocabulary, Tense, Voice, Narration, Prepositions, Correction of sentences, Comprehension): 120 marks

Section-B: General Knowledge (Indian History, Indian Polity, General Science, Current affairs): 120 marks

Section-C: Test of Reasoning and Numerical Ability: 120 marks

Section-D: Current Indian Education (Issues and Policies) National Policy on Education 1986, Universalization of Elementary Education- Right to Education, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Secondary Education-Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA): 40 marks

Guwahati, Mangaldai, Nagaon, Goalpara, Nalbari, Tezpur, Barpeta, Jorhat, Dhubri, North Lakhimpur.

Details of GU B.EdCET- 2023

• All questions will be of MCQ type with four alternative options of which only one answer will be the right option.
• The test Booklet and the OMR will be in English. The test has OMR based.
• There will be 4 marks for correct answers and (-1) for the wrong answer. No negative marks for unanswered questions.
• Reservation: Reservation and relaxation policy will be as per existing GU Rules
• Application and Entrance Examination Fee: Rs.1000+ bank transaction charges
• Gauhati University advertises Admission to B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) courses. The Gauhati University for all the colleges recognized by the NCTE and affiliated to Gauhati University will centrally carry out the entrance.

Gauhati University B.Ed 2023 Merit list

Merit list would be developed only based on marks that they can receive GU B.EdCET-2023. In case of a tie, i.e. when two or more candidates achieve equal marks, inter-se merit of such candidates are determined with the following:

Resolution by finding out the ratio of positive marks and negative marks. Candidates having the higher absolute value of the ratio will be awarded to better rank Resolution by marks obtained in Section-A.

Candidates obtaining higher marks will be given better rank. Resolution by marks gained in Section-B. Candidates attaining higher marks will be given better rank. Resolution by marks obtained in Section-C.

Candidates attaining higher marks will be granted a better rank. Resolution by brands generated under Section-D. Candidates obtaining higher marks will be given better rank. Resolution by several questions remains unanswered in Section-A.

Candidates with less number of unanswered questions will be given a better echelon. Resolution by several unanswered questions in Section-B. Candidates with less number of unanswered questions will be given an improved rank.

Resolution by several unanswered questions in Section-C. The applicant with fewer unanswered questions will be given a more appropriate rank. Resolution by the number of unanswered questions in Section-D.

Candidates with less number of unanswered questions will then be given better rank. If the resolution is not possible after this criterion, applicants of higher age will be given better rank.

Gauhati University B.Ed 2023 Counselling

Counseling for GUBED CET will start after the message of the result, candidates will be earmarked seats according to the merit list that will be notified at the official website, i.e., www.Gauhati.ac.in.

The counseling process for GU BEd CET 2023-24 will be done based on aspirants’ obtained marks in the entrance exam, and UG and PG weightage method will be publicized by the concerned mandate.
