Kerala UniversityThe University of Kerala, one of the nation’s first 16 Universities in India is offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the various fields having 150 Govt. run/Private Aided and Private Unaided colleges affiliated to it. M.Ed is a 2-year professional course designed to deepen the understanding of the candidates in Education and specializing in Elementary Education, Secondary or Senior Secondary Education, or Higher Education.

The program also aims to develop the training and research capacity of a candidate. Kerala University has called on requests from candidates who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education with 55% marks by an accredited university for admission into the M.Ed course.

The University of Kerala is inviting applications for B.Ed. Degree Course in Govt./Aided/Self-financing colleges and M.Ed. Degree Course in the Affiliated Colleges of Teacher Education.

The duration of the M.Ed. the course has to be 2 years featuring four semesters of six months each. The course of study is required to be through regular participation for the requisite number of lectures, practical training, field study, and internship. Admissions to the above-mentioned programs will be made by respective colleges on the grounds of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Kerala University M.Ed 2022 Application Form

For admission to M.Ed. the program, candidates should acquire and submit the worried application form in the college of their choice as per the schedule of admission published by the University.

Candidates can buy the application form from the colleges where they want to join the program.

Candidates should fill-in and submit the applications together with the following necessary documents before the last date of submission.

  • Self-attested photocopy of the SSLC or with all relevant school records to prove the date of birth.
  • Self-attested photocopies of the mark lists of all parts of the qualification exam(s) and Degree/Provisional certificate.
  • Certificate to prove the birth.
  • Income Certificate
  • Certificates in support of a claim for the Communal Reservation, if applicable.
  • Self-attested photocopies of certificates for the support of Special reservation, if applicable.
  • Copy of the Equivalency Certificate and Eligibility Certificate
  • Self-attested copy of NSS/NCC Certificate at degree level, if applicable.

Kerala University M.Ed 2022 Eligibility Criteria

The following section contains information about the eligibility for B.Ed/M.Ed. proposed by the University of Kerala.

Nativity: Only Indian Citizens are eligible to receive admission to professional courses unless otherwise notified.
Holders of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cards/OCI (Overseas Citizen of India), will also be dealt with at par with Indian citizens solely for admission.
PIO candidates won’t be eligible for any sort of reservation.

Reservation Criteria

For M.Ed. Degree Course only:

The reservation of seats for the M.Ed. Degree Programme must comply with stipulations of the University of Kerala/The Govt. of Kerala and NCTE from time to time.

The number of seats reserved by the open /community/management quota in the different colleges shall be made based on the criteria envisaged by the University.

Reservation for Persons with Disabilities (PWD): Three percent of the seats in Government/Aided colleges are reserved for candidates with disabilities. One seat in Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram shall be reserved for the teachers working in Govt./Aided Institutions

Private Self-financing Colleges and Aided Colleges where M.Ed. Program is offered in the Un-aided mode 50% of the seats will be filled from the open merit following the mandatory reservation and the remaining 50% shall be filled by the management that is affected.

Kerala University M.Ed 2022 Admission Process

Admissions to the M.ED program shall be made by respective colleges based on the marks obtained in the qualification exam.

The candidates are chosen based on their marks received in the M.Ed. Each college will draw up its own merit list based on the marks obtained from candidates in their M.Ed and the reservation policy of this specific college. The admission shall also carry out some extra weightage as follows:-

  • 15 marks – for those candidates who have ensured I division with distinction
  • 10 marks – for those how to get I division
  • 10 marks – for the candidates who have gone through a B. Ed degree from the University of Kerala.
  • 5 marks – if candidate has provided a II division and
  • 3 marks – for those who have passed the Post Graduate Examination
  • 2 marks for having experience in teaching ( experience more than 6 months shall be counted only)
  • There shall be no round up of the marks and percentages and there is no age limit for admission to an M.Ed degree.

Relaxation of Marks

Candidates belonging to SC/ST category are entitled to 5% of marks and candidates belonging to SEBC shall be entitled to the relaxation of up to 2% of marks.

For candidates who apply for admission in private self-financing colleges and aided colleges, where the M.Ed programs are accessible in single-handed mode, 50% of the seats, shall be filled from open merit class which will be followed by the portion of the seats available in reserved class and the remaining 50% shall be filled by the management concerned.
