The application form is a very crucial step for any exam. The GATE exam 2023 application form would be made available only on the official website. The GATE 2023 exam registration would begin on 30th August 2022.
The application process is a very crucial step so the candidates are advised to read all the instructions carefully. All the other details about the application form are given below:
- The application form will be released online on the official website only.
- The start date to submit the application form online is from 30th August 2022.
- The last date to submit the application form will be 7th October 2022.
- An applicant cannot fill out more than one application form.
- Candidates have to upload all your mentioned documents with care.
- Fill in your information very carefully to avoid any mistakes and cancellations.
- Fill in your details such as Name, Date of birth, and Address very carefully to avoid cancellations.
- Upload all your documents which are required very carefully and they should be in the prescribed format as mentioned in the instructions.
- Remember to note down your registration number, User ID, and Password.
- Candidates should take the printout of the application form after they have completed filling in all the details.
- Candidates will not have to send any hard copies.

GATE 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Nationality
The candidate should be of Indian nationality to apply for GATE 2023. Candidates from other countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates are also eligible for the GATE exam.
Educational Qualification
Students who have already completed any degree program approved by the Government in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce or Arts are eligible to appear for the GATE 2023 examination. Along with that students who are still studying in the 3rd year or final year of any undergraduate course can also apply for the GATE exam.

Eligibility for International Candidates
Candidates living in countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates are eligible to apply for GATE. All the candidates from these countries must have completed their graduation or be in their final year or the pre-final year of their bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology or equivalent.
GATE 2023 Exam Pattern

The marking scheme for the GATE 2023 exam is given below:
- MCQs carrying 1 mark: 1/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
- MCQs carrying 2 marks: 2/3 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
- Multiple Select Question (MSQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions have no negative marking.
- 1/3 marks will be deducted for the wrong answers, that is 0.33 marks for 1 mark questions, and 0.66 marks will be deducted for questions carrying 2 marks.
- No mark will be deducted for the wrong answer to NAT questions.

GATE 2023 Admit Card
After filling out the application form and paying the application fee you will get the admit card for the GATE 2023 exam. An admit card is a very important document for an exam. Admit cards will only be made available on the official website.
Candidates would have to carry the admit card with them to the exam hall as it is a mandatory rule and the candidates who fail to do so would not be allowed to give the exam. The GATE 2023 admit card would be made available on the official website one month before the exam.
Steps to download the admit card are given below:
- Visit the official GATE 2023 website for downloading the admit card.
- Now, enter the enrollment number and password.
- Click on the GATE Login option.
- Click on the GATE admit card download link option.
- Then admit cards will be downloaded in pdf format.
- Save it and take a printout.
GATE 2023 Answer Key
Answer Key for GATE 2023 would be made available only on the official website of GATE by IIT Kanpur. The answer key would be released after a week of the exam. The answer key would be of great help for students as they would be able to match their answers with the answer key.
The conducting authorities would also give the candidates to raise queries against the answer key. This facility would be open for 3 or 4 days only. The candidates would be required to pay INR 500 for each question they want to raise a query against. The fee would also be refunded if the query raised is proved to be correct.
GATE 2023 Result
GATE 2023 exam results will only be made available on the official website of GATE. The candidates would be able to see their results in the week of March 2023. The GATE 2023 result would only be released after the final answer key is released.
All the candidates are required to check the official website to not miss any update or notification about GATE 2023 exam result.
GATE 2023 Cut Off
GATE 2023 cut-off would be released by IIT Kanpur on the official website only for each paper. The cut-off for GATE 2023 would be released in two kinds. The first cut-off would be by the official conducting body of GATE which will have the minimum score required by the candidates to pass the GATE exam.
The other cut-off would be by the institutes that would release their cut-off for admissions in different courses. You can take a look at the cut-off of 2022 to get an idea.

GATE 2023 Counselling
The GATE 2023 counseling process for qualified candidates would start in May 2023. All the candidates are advised to register for the counseling process. The counseling process would be done separately by the participating institutions.
Centralized counseling which is called CCMT (Centralised Counselling for M. Tech/M. Plan), is conducted to get admission into IIT, NIT, and other government institutes. The IITs conduct their counseling for admission in M.Tech courses. The other state-level universities conduct their counseling for the admissions in different courses.
