Indian P&T Accounts and Finance Service is actually a group ‘A’ service. The head of this service is the Deputy Director General. The hierarchy of the post goes like the chairman of a public sector unit on the top followed by deputy chief controller of imports and exports then followed by the assistant chief controllers of imports and exports.

Indian P&T Accounts & Finance Service Eligibility

The eligibility criterion for the Indian P & T Accounts & Finance Service exam is actually the same as for other services. So, if the candidate gets successful in qualifying the civil services and thus gets an allotment to the service according to their rank, he then would have to go for a special training session.

Indian P&T Accounts & Finance Service Recruitment and Training

After getting selected for the civil services exams, the IP&TAFS officers are supposed to have training in the Foundation Course from the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, then followed by a training session in the financial management at the National Institute of Financial Management, Faridabad, for a period of 48 weeks all along with the officers of other organized accounts and finance services. The last stage of training is at the advanced level telecom training centre at Ghaziabad with a focus on postal and telecom functioning and rules.

After these training programs, the officers would be able to handle posts in the Departments of Telecom and Posts, TRAI and a number of PSUs under the control of Communications Ministry.

All the finance related services seats in the largest PSUs in the country such as BSNL and MTNL  are also managed by the officers of this service only.

  • Senior Time Scale PB-3

  3. served period for promotion: On completion of four years of approved service as on 1st January of the year
  • Junior Administrative Grade PB-3
  1. Salary usually ranges from Rs. 15600 to Rs. 39100
  2. Grade Pay for this position stays at Rs. 7600
  3. served period for promotion: On completion of 9 years of approved service as on 1st January of the year
  • Selection Grade in Junior Administrative Grade PB-4
  1. Salary usually ranges from Rs. 37400 to Rs. 67000
  2. Grade Pay for this position stays at Rs. 8700
  3. served period for promotion: Junior Administrative Grade officers who have entered into 13th year of service on 1st January of the year of examination
  • Senior Administrative Grade PB-4 
  1. Salary usually ranges from Rs. 37400 to Rs. 67000
  2. Grade Pay for this position stays at Rs. 10000
  3. served period for promotion: On completion of 17 years of approved service with four-year regular service in Junior Administrative Grade as on 1st January of the year

  2. served period for promotion: Senior Administrative Grade Officers with three years of regular service in the Grade as on 1st January
