Meghalaya Public Service Commission is a state government body that recruits and promotes the state civil services officers in the state of Meghalaya. The state government of Meghalaya conducts Meghalaya PSC (Meghalaya Public Service Commission) Examination.

Eligibility Criteria for Meghalaya PSC

Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit: Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years but must not have exceeded the age of 27 on the first day of the year of advertisement.

Provided that the upper age limit may be relaxed in respect of candidates belonging to particular categories by any general or special order issued by the Government from time to time.

Education Qualification: Candidate must hold a degree from any University recognized by the Government for this purpose. On the commencement of these rules, the Universities recognized shall be as given in Schedule.

The exams conducted by the commission are Combined MCS & Meghalaya Public Service Examination (Meghalaya PSC)MPS Examination Departmental Examination Judicial Service Examination

Departmental Examination: Departmental Examination is mainly conducted for the posts of Departmental posts like Education, nontechnical posts, stenographers

Combined MCS and MPS Examination: As the name suggests, the Examination is primarily carried out for the posts of Administrative Officers, Police officers, Sub-Collectors, Civil Servants.

Judicial Service Examination: The examination is mainly conducted for the posts of Civil Judges,

Exam Pattern of Meghalaya PSC

Preliminary Test.

The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers. The Paper I is General Studies with 150 marks, and Paper II is a subject-wise paper with 300 marks. The Written Examination consists of eight papers with 300 marks for each paper. The main exam is a conventional essay type with three hours of time duration and scientific articles with negative marks with 100 minutes. The interview score is 250. The eligible candidates are selected from the examination to Interview procedure.

Mains Test.

The Written Examination consists of four papers with 100 marks each with a one-hour time duration. The first two papers are General Studies and General Knowledge respectively. The other two papers are law papers.

How to prepare for Meghalaya PSC?

  • Make your schedule of study give appropriate time to each and every topic.
  • Read newspapers, magazines, etc. To increase your awareness of current affairs just keep an eye on reading the various newspapers, watch television for breaking the news.
  • Keep yourself up to date. Just go solving previous papers, make a habit of marking the key point.
  • Make your notes so that it will be easy while revising at the last moments.
  • Take the help of online assessment it will be better to boost your confidence level.
  • Self-assessment is an important preparation. Plan your studies at least two months before the exam.
  • Questions can be asked from every nook and corner of the subject and therefore it is not all advisable to omit any chapter or area.
  • Practice as many mock tests as possible close to the examination environment as possible. During preparation avoid fatty food just and avoid anxiety before the exam.
  • Make a strict timetable for you on a daily basis. You have required daily 8-10 hrs. Study for mains as very less time has left.
  • Focus on good topics. Study all Government schemes of Meghalaya state with particular attention and keep an eye on central schemes as well.
  • During exams try to write the answer in points.
  • Underline the key points of your answer
