NID 2019 Online Application (With Late Fees) can be filled till 22nd November 2018.  The NID or National Institute of Design is one of the premier institutes in India offering opportunity for aspirants who wish to pursue courses like- Master of Design (M.Des.), Bachelor of Design (B.Des.).

While M.Des is a 2.5-year programme offered in 19 disciplines across 3 Campuses, B.Des is a four years programme offered in 8 disciplines at Ahmedabad campus. Admissions in these courses at NID are granted through the Design Aptitude Test. The exam takes place in two stages.

NID 2019 Application Form

Candidates aspiring to apply for mentioned courses have to indicate their interest by officially filing a NID application form 2019.

Candidates must go through the details given below to fill the NID 2019 application form.

  • To fill the online NID 2019 Application form candidates.
  • NID 2019 Online Application Form has been Released from 1st October 2018.
  • The last date to fill the application form is till the 15th November 2018.
  • The last date to fill the application form with late fees is till the 22nd November 2018.
  • From 23rd – 26th November 2018the correction in the filled-in application form will be started for candidates.
  • After filling all the details carefully, candidates have to upload the photograph and signature along with required documents in JPG/JPEG format.

Application Fees for NID DAT 2019

  • Rs. 2,000/- for General/ OBC-NCL.
  • Rs. 1,000/- for SC/ST/ Open-PwD/ OBC-NCL-PwD/ SC-PwD/ ST-PwD.
  • Rs. 3,000/- for overseas candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for NID 2019 aspirants

NID 2019 B.Des Eligibility Criteria, Each individual will be admitted based on their clearance of various criteria. Therefore, you must check whether you satisfy these conditions.

Criteria for B.Des-

(i) Qualifying examination– an Indian national who has passed 12th class from a recognized board.

(ii) Age- not more than 20 years of age as on 30th June 2019.

  • Upper age limit for OBC-NCL, SC, ST- 23 years as on 30th June 2019
  • Upper age limit for PwD Reserved Category- 25 years
  • Reservation- OBC-NCL-27%, SC- 15% and ST- 7.5%

Criteria for M.Des- Check Here –  M.Des Eligibility

(i) Qualifying examination– an Indian national with a relevant Bachelor’s degree from a recognized board.

The degree can be of 3 years/ 4 years/ or a full-time diploma of 4 years in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture.

(ii) Age- not more than 30 years of age as on 30th June 2019.

  • Upper age limit for OBC-NCL, SC, ST- 33 years as on 30th June 2019
  • Upper age limit for PwD Reserved Category- 35 years

NID DAT 2019 Prelims Exam Pattern

The Design Aptitude test will be conducted by the National Institute of Design in written mode probably in the 01st week of January 2019.

  • Duration- 3 hours
  • Total points- 100 points
  • The medium of paper- English
  • Parts in paper- 2
  • Marks for Part-I- 70 marks
  • Marks for Part-II- 30 marks
  • Subjects – Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture
  • Marks for correct answer-1
  • Negative marking- NOT APPLICABLE
  • Type of questions MCQ in Part-I and Subjective in Part-II.

NID DAT 2019 Mains Exam pattern

Mains pattern for B.Des course-

  • Based on the scores obtained in DAT Prelims, candidates shortlisted will have to appear in Mains exam.
  • Each shortlisted candidate will be issued admit card for Mains paper
  • The DAT Mains for B.Des course may consist of testing candidates in different formats such as drawing/ sketching/ hands-on modeling.
  • Total marks for test be 100 and it will be of 3 hours. The paper will be in English.
  • The test will be held at Ahmedabad.

Mains pattern for M.DeS course-

    • Based on the scores in DAT Prelims, shortlisted candidates will have to appear in Mains paper.
    • Each candidate will be issued admit cards that will be downloaded from the website.
    • The DAT Mains for M.Des course will have two parts.
  • Part-I- Studio test- testing candidates on different formats such as drawing/ sketching/ hands-on modeling/ group discussion
  • Marks will be awarded out of 100 and the paper will be of 3 hours.
  • Part-II- Interview round- interviews will be taken separately for each discipline immediately after the Studio Test.

Preparation Tips for NID DAT 2019

Candidates must be very vigilant in noting down the DAT related events as there will be so many activities going on, there is a chance you may miss. But not when iaspaper.nthe et is with you.

  • Kindly have a thorough reading of the exam pattern.
  • You should check the sample paper for getting to know the pattern of the questions.
  • As already described, the paper will be formulated to test a candidate’s knowledge of Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture.

Syllabus for NID DAT 2019

Candidates who want to begin with their preparations can start with these following topics.

  • Science and environment not, world affairs, computer applications, heritages, Inspiration & Design Development, ecology, colour terminology, Design Theory, Mood, theme & colour interrelationship, Elements & Principles Of Design, Innovation in Design, Natural & Geometrical Form, Principles of Composition, Optical Illusion, lettering, form and function, colour and pattern and texture, theme development, picture analysis, drawing fundamentals, use of measurements, scale and proportions, optical illusions, Colour Psychology & Optical Illusions, Creative thinking & writing, visual logic, Foreshortening & Perspective, Ornaments & motifs, memory drawing, story pictures, etc.

Admit Card for NID DAT 2019

Candidates will get two NID Admit Card 2019. One for Prelims and the other for Mains exam.

  • NID 2019 Admit Card will be Releasing on 17th December 2018.
  • Admit card for Mains can be uploaded on 17th December 2018 for B.Des and by the 1st March 2018 for M.Des.
  • You may need the d to provide some credential details to download the hall ticket.

Answer Keys of NID 2019

After NID Answer Key 2019 conducts the DAT Prelims and Mains, the institute will publish the solutions of the 100 questions asked in the exam online on the official website at

  • Match your answers and if you think there is an error in the key, you can report the case within the time limit.
  • The submission of challenges will be ONLINE only.
  • You will have to pay Rs.1000/- per question to challenge the key.
  • If the candidate’s claim is accepted, the fees will be refunded.
  • Once, the date expires, the final answer key will be uploaded.

NID 2019 Results

The result of the DAT will be based on the score obtained in the DAT prelims NID 2019 Result.

  • NID 2019 Result will be Declare on 15th February 2019.
  • Merit list will be prepared according to category and published on
  • 30% of weightage will be given to DAT Prelims, while 70% of weightage will be given to DAT Mains.
  • Scorecards will be issued next.

Test Centres for NID DAT 2019

The DAT Prelims shall be conducted in the following cities. While there can be around 23 test centers for Prelims, a Test center for DAT Mains will be Ahmedabad, the Bangalore, and Gandhinagar.
