CEED 2018: Result, Score Card, Cut Off, Admission Procedure


CEED 2018 Result has been declared on 7th March 2018. The Common Design-Entry Examination (CEED 2018) is the national review conducted by IIT Bombay on behalf of the Government of India’s Department of Human Resources Development (MHRD). This is the pre-examination for admission to M.Des and Ph.D programs in design. The qualifications of CEED are used for admission to the courses of M.Des at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur and many other institutions. Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is conducted by the IIT Bombay for providing admission to the postgraduate programme in Design (M.Des) offered by various reputed institutions such as IITs, IISc Bangalore and much more. Through this exam, the students are also admitted to the Ph.D. course in design. This test screen the candidate’s aptitude for design through drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, communication skills, and visual perception ability. Qualifying in CEED does not guarantee admission to any of the programmes (Masters and Ph.D.). CEED is only a qualifying examination, that will provide you with a score. The results of the CEED will only be announced on the official website. Applicants can download it by sending their e-mail address and password. The score and merit ensured by the candidates will be revealed through it. The list of merits will only be prepared on the basis of the qualification of the candidate in Part B.

    • It will be valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of result.

CEED Application Form 2018


The CEED application form will only be published online. To submit the application form, applicants must first register by submitting little personal information. After registration, candidates can access the application form and submit the details. The document loading window appears. Applicants may use the above link to understand how to submit the CEED 2018 application form.

Once the form is completed and the documents are loaded, applicants must submit the application fee. The amount of the tax can be presented online, using the net bank or the debit/credit card.

  • CEED 2018 registration will begin from October 09, 2017.
  • Application will be submitted online only through the official website of CEED.
  • Candidates who will submit the application form after the closing date have to submit the late fee of Rs. 500/- along with the application fee.
  • The application process will continue till the second week of November 2017.
  • Applicants are required to upload scanned copies of signature, photograph, category certificate and degree/diploma certificate (in case of the completion of course).
  • Only completely filled application form will be accepted.

Examination Centers CEED 2018


Last year, the review took place in 19 cities. There are many chances that even this year will take place in the same places. However, if a change is announced by the driving force, we will inform our readers.

Candidates must submit three options for the examination center in the application form. It should also be noted that the request to change the examination center will not be received, particularly when candidates need another center in the designated city.

CEED  Eligibility

Read the CEED 2018 eligibility criteria carefully before filling the online application form. It must be necessary for the applicants to possess the following educational qualification:

  • Should have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture/Design/Interior Design or equivalent (4 years programme after 10+2).
  • Should have Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or 4 years programme after intermediate).
  • If the candidates have Bachelor in Fine arts (B.F.A) degree of 4 years then he/she is eligible to apply.
  • Those appearing/completed 5-year programme of G.D. Art after 10th and having one year of experience are eligible to apply.
  • If possessing Master’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Computer Application after the completion of 10+2+3 education pattern then eligible to apply for CEED.

Admit Card

The CEED 2018 Admit Card has been available from 29th December 2016. The CEED 2018 examination will be conducted on 22nd January 2016. Admit card for UCEED 2018 has been also released on 29th December 2016. Students can check the CEED 2018 Result on 10th March 2016. The CEED 2018 counselling procedure will be organized from the last week of January 2018.

CEED Application Form

Application Fee:

Application fee details of CEED 2018 is as follows:

  • For General candidates – Rs. 2200/-
  • For SC/ST/PwD and Women candidates – Rs. 1100/-

Only credit card, debit card and net banking options are available for submitting the CEED application fee. The application fee is non refundable.

CEED Eligibility Criteria


The eligibility criteria of the exam are to be fulfilled by all the candidates. The conditions of CEED Eligibility for the exam are as below:

Education Qualification – The main focus is on the education background. Only the candidates with following educational qualification can apply for CEED 2018.

  • The candidates must have qualified Degree/Diploma/PostGraduate course, from a recognized institute. The candidate in final year may also apply, provided they will be appearing for the final examination in the month of July 2018.
  • The candidates possessing GD Arts degree (10+5) are also eligibility but their course must have been finished until July 2017.
  • Candidates those wish to apply for CEED examination must check all the eligibility conditions that are necessary to apply:
    • Qualifying Examination: Candidate must possess degree/diploma/postgraduate degree of 4 years or 3+2 years (after 10+2).
      OR
      Passed GD Arts Diploma programme (10+5) by July 2017.
    • Appearing Candidates: Candidates appearing the qualifying examination can also fill the CEED application form.
    • No Age Limit: There is no prescribed age limit to apply for CEED.
    • Number of Limits: Candidates can appear CEED any number of times.

Exam Pattern

 

The examination of CEED was organized into 2 parts, say Part A and Part B. Those, who will qualify the Part A was eligible for Part B examination. The question paper was asked in English medium only. The merit list will be prepared as per the marks obtained by the candidates in Part B examination. The brief information about CEED Part A and Part B exam is as follows:

Duration – Candidates will get 1 hour to attempt Part A and to attempt Part B, the candidates will have to 2 hours.

Language – Both the sections will be presented in the English language.

Mode of the Exam – Part A will be a computer based examination. The questions for Part B will appear on the screen but the candidates will have to answer on a sheet of paper.

Question Type – The Part A of the examination contains Objective Type questions, whereas, the questions in Part B will be designed to test candidates writing, drawing, and designing techniques/skills.

Marking Scheme – The marking scheme of the examination, last year, was as below. Whether it will remain the same this year or not, will announce through the information brochure.

Note: There is negative marking of 0.6 marks in NAT questions.

Part A:

  • It was the Computer Based Test (CBT) having the duration of one hour.
  • It contains total 50 questions separated into 3 sections. First section contains 5 questions, the second section contains 10 questions and rest of the 35 questions was contained by the third section.
  • Negative marking of 0.6 marks was there in first and third sections while there will no provision of negative marking in the second section.
  • Every right answer contains 2 marks.

Part B:

  • It was a pen and paper based test of 2 hours duration.
  • In this section candidate’s skills in drawing and designing will be measured.
  • The candidates have to answer this hand drawing test in the same booklet provided by the examiner.

Syllabus

CEED is an aptitude test that takes place in two parts. Applicants may prepare Part A on topics such as visualization and spatial capacity, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language and creativity, design thinking and problem solving, sensitivity observation and design.

Part B will assess candidates’ design skills, creativity, communication skills, analytical skills and problem-solving skills. Questionnaires from previous years are also available on the CEED website. Candidates can also practice these questionnaires.

The syllabus for exam is

Visual Perception and Creative Ability Test STUDY MATERIAL, SKETCHING, DRAWINGS etc. to judge Visual sensitivity and imagination.

  • Written Communication
  • Ability to express precisely one’s thoughts on a given topic.
  • Ability to comprehend a given passage in English and summarize it

DESIGN APTITUDE

Development of new product/ visual concepts and creative ideas based on analytical observation of problems from daily life situations. Choice of product concepts suitable for small and large scale production. Generation of solution in a given material and process such as sheet metal work wood fabrication, plastic moulding, wire fabrication, etc. or representations of visual concepts into visual symbols and form, aided with drawings and illustrations. Drawings based on your analysis.

DRAWING SKILLS

The Imagination of objects, people and places from our immediate or distant environments.

Preparation for the Examination

  • No specific text book or guide is recommended for the preparation of CEED. Candidates may however hone their drawing, rendering and visualization skills.
  •  Some of the question papers of previous years are available in the CEED website. Candidates may refer to these question papers.

CEED 2018 Cutoff


IIT Bombay only reveals the cut-off point of part A of the examination. Part B is a subjective role, so there can not be some reduction.

Response key CEED 2018


The CEED response key will only be published for part A of the journal. It is only because this section contains the question with fixed answers. CEED 2018 Final Answer Key has been released on 2nd February 2018.The answer key will be provided by the informal staff as well as by the official management body. Candidates can use it to check questions and calculate exam marks.

  • Practice Previous Years Question Papers: Solve previous years question papers to get the overview about exam pattern and to analyse the difficulty level of exam.
  • Practice Mock Test: Appear mock test.
  • Creativity skills: Think out of the box and come up with a unique solution.
  • Drawing skills: Strong your drawing skills. You ability to draw products, people and scenes will be tested during the examination.
  • Stay Calm: Before appearing for the exam, the aspirants must remain calm and composed.

A very good advice given by the body that leads is that CEED is an aptitude test. Therefore, there is no particular book from which candidates can prepare for the exam.
