JEE Main is for applicants wishing to enter the BE or B.Tech courses at the National Institutes of Technology (NIT), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), other technical institutes with central funds (TIAC ) And the engineering faculties of the participating States. The main JEE is also a proof of eligibility that allows students to perform the advanced JEE exam that ultimately led to admission to the IIT or the Indian School of Mines (ISM).

The main JEE is composed of two articles, namely paper 1 and 2. Paper paper 1 is for those who wish admission to BE and B.Tech course and paper 2 is for those who want admission in B.
