MUCLET is an abbreviation for Mumbai University Common Law Entrance Test is an entrance examination for law students conducted by the Mumbai University. It is organized for admission in five-year integrated undergraduate law courses BA LLB (5 years) and LLB (3 years) and courses in the state law colleges which are affiliated with this. Mumbai University provides admission in undergraduate law programs including LLB from the Mumbai University.  This Mumbai University Common Law Entrance Test is commonly known as MUCLET. The MUCLET will be conducted in the last week of April 2018.

The admission to law colleges of India can be taken by qualifying MUCLET. There are various law colleges in the state offering various LLB seats for the undergraduates of MUCLET. The entrance MUCLET that is Mumbai University Common Law Entrance Test will be conducted in offline mode. The Instructions, Rules, and regulations are decided by the MUCLET and in compliance with all the rules and regulations of MUCLET Law authorities and the relevant Authorities orders in place.

There are certain criteria that the candidate needs to satisfy even after passing the examination Mumbai University. These are Eligibility Criteria and set as per the rules of government in Mumbai University and is the way to admission in LLB courses of the affiliated colleges in India.

The admit card for MUCLET is provided online to the candidates appearing for the MUCLET. The admit card is accessed by the candidates on the MUCLET portal. The admit card for  PG was issued via online mode. The admit card for MUCLET is issued by Mumbai University that is conducting authorities of MUCLET.

The candidates can download the admit card from the official website of the Mumbai University. The admit card will not be sent via post to any of the appearing candidates. The admit card of MUCLET will contain following details like candidates name, date of birth, photo, signature, MUCLET center and roll number. This information of the candidate will be based on the applicant’s MUCLET application form. In case any candidate finds any mistake in their MUCLET admit card 2018 details including their names and date of birth, they need to bring it to the notice of MUCLET officials, immediately and get it verified or corrected by the authorities of MUCLET.

MUCLET Application forms

MUCLET application form is available in online mode as well as offline mode. The University appoints authorities to conduct the centralized online counseling for the academic session of MUCLET 2018-19. All the applicants are required to fill the form in order to appear for MUCLET courses. MUCLET Application fees

Once the candidate is done with filling the form online the next step is to pay the application fees.  To complete their MUCLET Counselling registration, candidates need to sign the counseling register and pay a non-refundable processing fee of some specific amount.  Different categories have fees for the application form of MUCLET.

Application Fee

  • Rs. 500/- for open categories.
  • Rs. 250/- for reserved category candidates.

 The payment can be done through net banking and various other options: Debit Card/ Demand Draft/ Bankers Cheque/ Pay Order. The payment mode is only online and Online payment can be done through Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card. The fees once paid by the candidate will not be refunded in any case.

MUCLET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

There is certain rules or conditions set by the official authority of the MUCLET authorities which an applicant needs to satisfy to appear for the MUCLET. The applicants can look for all the eligibility criteria one needs to satisfy and should contain all the documents proving that applicants satisfying those criteria.

Here are some of the criteria which an applicant should satisfy:
  • The applicant must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) from any affiliated Board of Education in India.
  • The candidates belonging to General and OBC category must score 45% in the entrance exam whereas the candidates belongs to SC/ST category must score 40% marks in the entrance exam.
  • Domicile: Only the candidates from India are eligible to apply
  • Age of the Candidate: The age of the candidate shouldn’t exceed above 20 years as on 1st July 2018. In case the candidate belongs to SC or ST category, then the age limit would be 22 years as on 1st July 2018.
  • Note that 85% of seats of B.B.A. – L.L.B. (Hons) at Mumbai University are reserved for candidates belong to SC/ST and rest of the seats (i.e. 20%) is reserved for candidates from outside of Maharashtra. No seats are reserved for the candidates from Outside India.

Reservation for MUCLET

The reservation for the candidates who are from different categories has different rules set by MUCLET. The rules and regulations are defined by the MUCLET. All the candidates must strictly follow the rules defined by the MUCLET for  UG courses.

BPL (SC/ST category)

NOTE: The candidate should note that the in-case of any discrepancy the candidate’s admission will be canceled and the seat will not be given to the candidate instead will be allotted to any other candidate.


MUCLET Result 2018 for LLB courses.  The result will be announced online on the official portal of MUCLET. The result will consist of the merit list on the basis of marks of the candidates. The candidates will be called on the basis of merit list for the counseling. The MUCLET authority releases result for different courses provided by the university. The Result of MUCLET has been announced by Mumbai University. The test scores and result of MUCLET will be reported on a percentile basis. As per MUCLET 2018 result, each test-takers’ performance will be compared to others of candidates group, classified as the five-year integrated undergraduate and two-year postgraduate.

The correct number of questions answered by the candidate will decide the result. There will be a total of 100 questions and candidate will be able to tick maximum correct out of it. Applicants should download the result and should preserve the score till the admission procedure is complete for further use in MUCLET.

MUCLET Counselling

The applicants scored marks, which are above the cutoff, are eligible for the admission procedure in the MUCLET and after that counseling procedure starts. The list will be released for the candidates who get selected for the admission procedure through a Particular defined procedure. The counseling will be conducted via offline mode. The counseling for MUCLET is conducted by Procedure defined by Mumbai University.

All the candidates will be assigned a center for the counseling process and candidates have to report to their respective center and on the given date by the authorities of MUCLET. Candidates will also have to present a list of official documents for verification and xerox copies of the same for submission. Candidates should ensure they submit only the correct information at the time of MUCLET Counselling process as it will be used for their seat verification.

The counseling is done on the basis of rank provided to the candidate. The counseling will be on the basis of the candidate’s rank. When the candidates are called for the counseling procedure the candidates have to take original documents with them. The documents will go through the verification process by the authorities. There will be numerous seats available for the LLB counseling to be filled by the candidates by clearing MUCLET entrance examination.

After the successful tests and verification, the candidate can appear for the admission in the MUCLET. It is important for the candidate to be present physically for the counseling and if the candidates fail to be present on the day of the counseling than the candidate’s seat will be canceled. Nowadays as provided by the online option the candidate can choose and fill their preferences of colleges and courses online in the official website of MUCLET.

The seats are allotted purely on the basis of marks secured in the entrance MUCLET and merit list prepared on that marks. The MUCLET counseling will be done in offline mode only.

List of Documents Required at the Time of Admission

Candidates will be required to produce the following documents in original with two sets of self-attested photocopies at the time of admission.

  • MUCLET 2018  Scorecard/MUCLET 2018 admission letter issued by Mumbai University.
  • Self-Attested copy of Marks Statement of 10thand 12th board examinations
  • Self-Attested copy of Character Certificate from the School last attended

MUCLET Exam Pattern

Different academic courses have different MUCLET pattern offered by the Institute. The MUCLET conducted by Mumbai University will announce the MUCLET pattern for their own Institute differently. The undergraduate entrance MUCLET will be based on OMR examination. The MUCLET will be an offline that is pen paper based examination. There will be the total of 100 questions which will be multiple choice questions (objective based). The MUCLET Examination will be standard for the entrance examination. MUCLET total score out of 100 marks. MUCLET entrance MUCLET time duration is 2 hours.

    • Exam Date: MUCLET will be conducted in the last week of April 2018.
    • Exam Mode: The examination was organized in offline mode (pen and paper-based test).
    • Question Paper Type: The question paper contained objective type questions with four options.
    • Paper Language: The question paper was asked in the English language.
    • Sections: The question paper was comprised of different sections such as Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge with Current Affairs, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, English and Mathematical Aptitude.
    • Number of Questions: Total 100 questions was asked in the examination.
    • Marks: 1 mark for every correct choice of answer and there is NO negative marking

General Knowledge & Current Affairs: This section will test General knowledge & current affairs

English including Comprehension: The English section will test the candidate’s proficiency in English based on comprehension and grammar; the grammar section will include correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, fill in the blanks with appropriate words, Jumbled words & Sentences, Antonyms, Synonyms, Part of Speech, Idioms & phrases etc

Mathematics: This section will test candidate’s Knowledge of elementary mathematics up to 10th standard

Logical Reasoning: The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the student’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It will include a wide variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc.

Legal Aptitude & Legal Awareness: This section will test the legal aptitude of the students. Questions will be framed with the help of legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which they said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be true in the real sense (e.g. the legal proposition might be that any person who speaks in a movie hall and disturbs others that are watching the movie will be banned from entering any movie theatre across India for one year)
