Top CAT 2020 Entrance Exam Tips – Check Here Working Tatics

CATCAT is the exam with which every other MBA entrance exam in India tries to compete with. Whether it is the prestige of the IIMs or the jobs received by the alumni of the top passing college, almost every student who sits down for an MBA entrance, definitely gives this exam a shot.

This also means that the preparation level required for this exam has to be stupendously high in order to meet the requirements that have been kept for all the students who are able to crack this exam and the study in one of the best universities possible.

That being said, here are a few tips that you can use in order to crack this exam and then go on to study in one of the best universities in the country

1. Your preparation should start at least 1 year before the exam

While the time to prepare varies from individual to individual depending on skills, intellect, and whether you have been in touch with those subjects during your undergrad, ideally 1 year is a good time to devote to your preparation.

This means if you are reading this, and thinking about giving CAT 2020, you should have started yesterday, or maybe 6 months ago. However, do not lose hope, as you still have close to 5 months remaining, and if you put in your heart and soul in the same, you will be able to crack a good enough score in the exam.

2. Create a schedule in which you are devoting time to all the sections

In an ideal world, you devote 9 hours of study with 3 hours for each section for 6 to 8 months and then start giving mocks, and at the end of the day, you go back to sleep a happy and satisfied individual. However, this is not the ideal world and your comfort with each section may differ and this will throw a wrench in your preparation time.

Have a look at the entire CAT syllabus and decide which one of the sections needs more time and create your timetable accordingly. Remember, taking suggestions from experts and mentors is good, but not every size fits every individual.

3. How do you tackle each of the three sections?

Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation, and Logical Reasoning; 6 words to induce horror faster than The Conjuring did for any CAT student. This also means that you need to tackle each of these sections according to your comfort in the subjects.

While someone might be good with numbers, others may be good at their language skills, or with the ability to apply logic. Therefore, your time for each section will differ and so will your preparation strategy, and that is something that should always be at the forefront of your mind.

4. Getting your hands on the best course material for the preparation

While coaching centers always offer their own study material, you should consider getting a few other books to complement your preparation. The following books can be helpful for each of the three sections:

How to Prepare for Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension for CAT’- by Arun Sharma & Meenakshi Upadhyay

‘Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension for the CAT’ – by Nishit K Sinha

‘How to Prepare for Data Interpretation for CAT’ – by Arun Sharma

‘Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation for the CAT’ – by Nishit K Sinha (Published by Pearson)

‘Word Power Made Easy’ – by Norman Lewis

‘High School English Grammar & Composition’ – by Wren & Martin

However, this should not be the be-all and end-all of all the material that you should use. Immaterial of the coaching institute that you have joined, or whether you are preparing by yourself, you should give the online mock exams of every single possible institute that is out there.

Whether it is Career Launcher, or T.I.M.E or even online mock portals, you should consider giving as many mocks as possible to prepare for the exam.

5. Identifying the best college for you

Lastly, and most importantly, you should identify the best college for you. Not everyone can get into IIMs, FMS, SP Jains or NMIMSs of the world. This is something that has to be considered by the time the college forms are released.

This means that you should actively research and identify the colleges that you can possibly get into. That being said, if you are scoring in the 80s or 90s, you can possibly think about joining Manipal University, Manipal or VIT University, Vellore possible options that would act as a healthy way to start your post MBA career.

That being said, we wish nothing but the best to every single candidate out there, and hope that this is one CAT, everyone is able to bell!
